Despite the widespread popularity of fast charging, most users sincerely believe that this technology is harmful and even dangerous. Allegedly, the high power with which charging is in progress can provoke what is called overcharging in English, not to mention the increased heating of the battery and adjacent components and their premature wear. Of course, all this is complete nonsense, because the smartphone will not lose more than one cycle per charge. And I generally insist that the chargers be even more powerful.
The charging must be powerful, even if it is a smartphone charger
Last week, Oppo unveiled a 125-watt smartphone charger that will revolutionize the way you think about how to recharge your battery. Today, this is the most powerful power supply unit that is produced specifically for mobile devices, while most devices support memory with a capacity of up to 15-25 W. Of course, there are individual copies with support for 60-watt adapters, but they are, of course, an absolute minority, and they still take about an hour to charge.

Charging in 5 minutes? Why not
The Oppo 125W charger allows you to charge a 4000 mAh battery from 0 to 41% in just 5 minutes, and from 0 to 100% in 20. This is really fast, considering that a couple of years ago smartphones were charged 3-4 hours in a row and, in order not to sit next to them and not wait for them to be charged, they were left at the outlet just overnight. There is no such need today. If you wish, it will be possible not only to recharge your smartphone even before going to work, but to charge it fully, if this has not been done since the evening.
But the actual charging speed – although it is, of course, important – is not the only advantage of the new Oppo technology. Here are the aspects, because of which, in my opinion, all charges should have the highest possible power.
Why you need fast charging
125W charging is very versatile, not to mention all the other benefits
- Users who want to delay battery wear will be able to charge their smartphone to 70-80% in just 10 minutes. After all, if, when using a 10-20-watt charger, it took 35-45 minutes, which was frankly enough, given that the smartphone was discharged faster than the one that was initially charged 100%, now the charging time will be really invisible.
- Ultra-fast charging eliminates the need for overnight charging. I think everyone knows that when a smartphone is connected to an outlet throughout the night, after being charged to 100%, it begins to experience micro-losses of energy, which the charging has to be constantly replenished. I don't know if this reduces the number of available cycles, but there is no doubt that this does not benefit the battery.
- Brief charging has a lower thermal impact on the battery and adjacent components, preventing wear and tear. After all, if the smartphone charges for an hour or two or more, sometimes it manages to get so hot that it is really uncomfortable to touch the place where the charging cable is connected. Imagine what the battery is experiencing at these moments? I don't think he would say thank you for sure. A 5-10 minute charge will keep this effect to a minimum.
- 125 watt charger – universal. Well, think for yourself: modern laptops are equipped with 50-100 W adapters. But such, as a rule, you cannot charge a smartphone – it either does not fit physically, or has too high power. Oppo has resolved this issue. Now the same charger can be used to charge smartphones, laptops, and tablets. Very comfortable and 'green' given the general passion for caring for nature.
In general, no matter which side you look at, high-power charging is one continuous advantage and almost complete absence of disadvantages. No, of course, there will always be those who will say that such a charge can harm the battery, because the slower the charge, the safer. However, this bears little resemblance to the truth. After all, if this were true, manufacturers simply would not dare to make such adapters, putting users at risk. And remember about Tesla electric cars, which are charged with adapters with a capacity of several kilowatts and at the same time feel great.
