Scanning by standard method

This procedure will be performed with standard functions built into your mobile device. As mentioned earlier, this method will allow us to perform actions with the found devices, that is, your, for example, smartphone will interact with another device.

To perform such a search, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your smartphone settings.

  2. Select the line 'Bluetooth'.

  3. If you have not activated the module, then you need to enable it manually. To do this, in most devices in the upper right corner of the screen there is a switch that you need to tap to put the wireless module into an active state.

    After these actions, a window should appear in which there will be a list of found devices. If there are no devices in the list, you need to manually scan the devices near you.

  4. In order to search, at the bottom of the window, click on the 'Search' button.

    Your display should show the names of found devices that are nearby with the included Bluetooth – receiver.

  5. To see the available actions that can be done with these devices, you need to tap on the gear icon in front of their names.

After that, a list with options for actions on the selected gadget should be displayed. There may be options such as:

  • rename the device;
  • connect;
  • change connection access;
  • use the device as a wireless modem;
  • use as a headset;
  • use for multimedia sound, etc.

This method should be used to calculate data about an unknown device located near you. Namely: find out the type of device, address and even location relative to you.

There are many third-party applications for this purpose, in our example we will consider the program Bluetooth scanner for Android. It's easy to use, doesn't have complicated settings and is free to download. You can download it from Google Play at the link.

Please note that the program has only English-language localization.

Let's see how this application works:

  1. Turn on the wireless module on your phone.
  2. Run the downloaded application.

After starting, scanning for new devices will start immediately. All found devices will be shown on the display with information about them.

For each device, the following data will be provided:

  • Type (laptop, tablet, computer, mobile phone, smartphone, etc.).
