GPS in the phone is a service for determining your location by coordinates with an accuracy of 5-50 meters (depending on the signal from the satellite and from the cell tower). But having GPS turned on drains your phone's battery, so I recommend turning it off whenever possible. How to do it?
We call the top curtain on the screen (swipe your finger from top to bottom along the top of the screen) and turn off the GPS icon, like in my screenshot.
You can configure advanced GPS settings and disable tracking of your location in advanced settings. Go to “Settings” – “Personal” – “Location” or “Settings” – Privacy “-” Passwords and Security “-” Location “.
If you cannot find the option on your phone, use the search by settings, enter “gps” in the search box at the top of the screen.
Disable access of third-party applications to my location and choose how the phone will determine your location:
- High accuracy – use all networks (GPS, Bluetooth, wi-fi and mobile network) to determine the location. This is the most “expensive” choice – I do not recommend it.
- “Save energy” – use only wi-fi and cellular network. I RECOMMEND.
- Sensors only – use GPS only. Wouldn't recommend.
Next, you can configure so that Google does not track you, and erase the history of your movements. Not everyone knows that through Google maps you can see all the routes of your movements over the past year.
- We select “Google Geolocation” and disable the option “Determine the location more precisely”.
- Select “Location History”, go to your Google account, uncheck the option of the same name.
- Additionally, we go to “History Management” and erase the history of all our movements for all time. The Google Maps application will launch, where in the account settings we go to the chronology, go to “Settings and privacy” and select “Delete all location history”.
If you don't want your location to be tracked somehow, turn off your phone and remove the battery.
