In this topic, we will consider the situation when you need to connect Android to a TV using Wi-Fi, namely, we will show you how to play multimedia files on your TV and how to transfer a picture to your TV screen. We have previously explained how to control a TV from an Android device.
Presetting
Let's immediately define what we need to have in order to connect an Android phone to a TV using Wi-Fi.
- First of all, we need a сSmаrtTV TV, in our example, Samsung TVs will be used, this function is also supported by models LG and Sony of the high price segment.
- The TV does not need to have a Wi-Fi module, an Ethernet connector is enough – in this case, the connection to the network will be made with a cable through a router.
- SmartTV must have an internet connection set up according to the instructions for your model.
- Both devices (phone and TV) must be connected to the same network (to the same router), be it a cable or Wi-Fi.

Through a standard player
It is very easy to make the connection itself, everything is done automatically; another question is how to reproduce the multimedia content yourself on the big screen.
This can be done using a standard player. All well-known manufacturers have started to integrate video streaming functionality into standard players. In our example, we will play a video from a phone LG. For this:
- You need to go to the phone menu.
- Select the video icon.
- Select the video you want to watch, and then playback will begin.
- Click on the streaming playback icon (phone with an arrow), in our model it is located on the top right.
- A window should open showing all available devices. You need to click on the name of the TV on which you want to start playback.
- After that, on TB, no matter what mode it is in (the main thing is to be on), a confirmation request will appear. Confirm your consent with the remote control to start the show.
Note: Video control (volume, rewind, video change) is performed using the phone through the video player interface.

That is, all control will be performed on the TV, and the phone acts as a server. To create such a connection, follow these steps:
- Go to settings on Android.
- Select Sharing and Connecting.
- Click on the 'Media Server' line.
- Check the box next to 'Content access mode', after which all available devices on the same network will be scanned.
- Grant or deny access for each found device in the appropriate windows.

TV as a phone monitor
This function is called Miracast, and it can be very convenient, because the display shows exactly the same picture as you, for example, on a smartphone. It does not matter if you are playing a game or just surfing the Internet, everything will be displayed exactly on the SmartTV screen.
The only drawback of this technology is a significant picture delay, about 1 second. While watching video or working with text, this does not cause any particular inconvenience, but playing video games, especially those that require a reaction, is almost impossible.
To connect in this way, do the following:
- Go to Settings on Android.
- Open Sharing and Connection.
- Tap on the Miracast line to open a window with a search for supported devices, and turn on the swing.
- Click on the name of your TV.
- On the TV, confirm the consent to the connection with the remote control, so that the display of what is shown on the display of your phone begins.
