What to listen to when all pop music seems monotonous?

Contemporary pop music has many directions. This is not to say that this is bad – diversity will not hurt anyone, but I often began to notice changes for the worse. For example, a performer simply sings to a ready beat (yes, you can't even call it music), and the tracks seem to be 'pumping', but you catch yourself thinking that there are sorely lack of real musicians in the industry. And I have a lot of respect for performers who are not shy about singing a cappella, and if they also own one or more instruments, it's generally great.

What to listen to when all pop music seems monotonous?

We haven't heard such experiments with music for a long time.

One of these performers is the American singer Halsey. She started writing songs herself at 17, played acoustic concerts under various names, but eventually settled on one pseudonym, and in 2015 released her debut studio album, Badlands. After that Halsey recorded another disc, and in a few years managed to record the single 'Closer' with The Chainsmokers, which you probably heard, the song 'Not Afraid Anymore', which became the second single to the movie 'Fifty Shades Darker' and other tracks.

BTS ('Suga’s Interlude').

We have already had time to get acquainted with Halsey's new disc – from the first tracks it becomes clear that the album is dedicated to the singer's personal experiences. At the same time, it cannot be called melancholic: the performer has a very strong voice, and her playing on the instruments deserves special attention.

By the way, Halsey began uploading tracks to 'Manic' back in October 2018. Then came the hit 'Without me', which quickly topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts. The track is about toxic, unhappy relationships. Then the song 'Graveyard' became available for listening – a kind of female anthem, the theme of love was also touched upon in the third single of the singer 'Clementine'. And a month ago Halsey published two new releases – 'Finally // Beautiful Stranger' and 'Suga's Interlude'.

The new album includes 16 songs, 7 of which contain profanity. This is Halsey's record – the two previous albums had 3 tracks each, marked with the 'Explicit' symbol. And it is really very versatile: according to the performer herself, it is a mixture of hip-hop, rock, country and 'whatever you can.'

We recommend listening to 'Manic' not only to fans of the genre, but also to everyone who loves experimenting with music. The album is already available on Boom and Yandex.Music, as well as other music streaming services.
