Displays manufactured with AMOLED technology are colorful, bright, crisp but fragile. A characteristic feature of damage to such displays is that at the slightest crack in the matrix, the image disappears completely.
So it happened with today's J7 2017. Falling at an angle damaged the surface of the matrix. We will change the entire module. Go!
The display itself can be obtained anywhere: at least buy on Ali (if there are several weeks left to wait), at least in Russia, in Akseum. Then the waiting time is reduced to 2-3 days.
First, we send the device to the thermal mat. Let's warm up the glue layer of the display to peel it off – the phone can be taken apart from the front. No screwdrivers today. 99 ° C for 2-3 minutes will be sufficient.
Using a suction cup, create a small gap where we place a flat spatula for parsing. We walk along all the edges, not really standing on ceremony, because the screen of the device cannot be restored.
Be careful at the bottom of the phone, where the home button and touch buttons are on the sides. We try to peel off and lift only the glass so as not to damage the button train.
In the process of peeling off, our module peeled off, the glass came off the screen, this is normal. The screen itself is additionally glued to the frame on a layer of double-sided tape and connected to the board with a connector. This connector is closed with a plastic cover, pry it on the side and lift the cover, disconnect the cable. We strongly recommend not to lose the cover, it additionally keeps the display cable connected.
It's time to check out a new part. We connect to the place of the old display, start the smartphone and test the functionality of the module: the uniformity of the backlight, the absence of graphic distortions, glare, oversaturation of a certain color, etc.
The sensor can be checked in two ways:
- By using all the controls of the software shell (curtains, buttons, icons, brightness sliders and side gestures, if any) and dragging any application icon on the desktop across the entire area.
- Enabling the special display mode for touching the touch screen:
- Application 'Settings';
- item 'About phone / About device';
- repeated clicking on the line 'Version MIUI', until a message appears about enabling developer mode;
- return to the main settings screen;
- line 'Additional settings';
- scroll down and find the 'For Developers' item that appears, go to it (on various devices, this menu item can be hidden in 'Accessibility', 'Additional Settings', 'System Settings', etc.);
- turn on the 'For Developers' item and look for the 'Input', 'Display touches' section below and voila – a coordinate grid follows the finger, leaving a touch line, which allows you to completely check the touchscreen for serviceability and eliminate false and phantom clicks.
The part has been checked, we will prepare the surface for installation. We remove the remaining factory tape, dirt, dust and glass shards. Degrease the surface with a lint-free cloth soaked in isopropyl alcohol.
Despite the fact that there are already strips of double-sided tape on the installed display, we additionally apply a thin layer of glue around all edges. In the future, this will help to avoid peeling.
Let the glue dry for 5-10 minutes and glue the screen. Align with the Home button.
For better fixation, we recommend using special clothespins. We leave the phone in this form for a period from six (sufficient time for use) to 24 hours (complete solidification).
