Links are one of the foundational aspects of the internet today. We go through dozens and hundreds of URLs every day, share and receive them ourselves. In general, a completely standard practice to which all users, without exception, are accustomed. But the link exchange mechanism itself, unfortunately, is far from perfect, because it often allows you to share only a web page on which the necessary information is given, but not a specific place on this page. It would not be right to poke at a specific piece of text, but most browsers simply do not have such an opportunity. Except for Google Chrome.

Despite the fact that Google Chrome itself is a rather unremarkable browser in terms of functionality, extensions save it. In fact, these are applications in the application that contain the capabilities the user needs. Often, each extension includes only one function, but due to the fact that Google Chrome has tens of thousands of them, the browser can turn into a full-fledged operating system. But today we will only talk about one extension – Link to Text Fragment, which allows you to link to a specific part of the page.
How to link to a specific location on a page

You can create a link to a specific piece of text only using a special extension
- Open the page you want to link to and select the desired fragment;
- Click on the right mouse button and select Copy link to select text in the drop-down menu;
- Send the link to the addressee in any convenient way.
After the addressee receives a link from you, he will be able to go not just to the page, but to the very fragment that you have chosen for him. Not only will the browser automatically scroll through the content to the right place, but for greater clarity, it will highlight it in yellow. The ability to create a link leading to a specific piece of text can come in handy for a wide range of users who work with text. These are schoolchildren, students, journalists, philologists, and anyone else. After all, often the text on which you have to search is absolutely disgusting – without divisions into paragraphs, subheadings, insertions and highlights. And thanks to the Link to Text Fragment extension, this problem is solved literally twice: select the text, copy the link and send it. After all, in this way you can even send links to yourself, so that you can later find the piece of text where you left off.
The only thing I don't really like about Link to Text Fragment is how links are created. The extension adds a whole bunch of characters to the original address, due to which the link sent to the chat begins to occupy half of the entire screen. I understand that the coordinates of a specific fragment on a web page fit into these characters, however, developers could solve this problem in some way more elegantly. All that was needed was to add a service widget to the extension to shorten links like bitly or something.
