Which Samsung will get Android 11. Complete list

The release of Android 11 this year was quite unexpected. At least for me. Still, given that Google had to postpone the launch of the update beta three times, for a total of more than a month, I was inclined to expect the search giant to release a new version of the OS in October at best. But the preliminary tests of the update were successful, and the Google developers decided that there was simply no reason to delay Android 11 longer. But on popular devices, the update will be available a little later.

Android 11 for Samsung smartphones will be one of the most extensive releases

One of the manufacturers that takes the most responsible approach to the issue of updating their smartphones today can safely be considered Samsung. Koreans even overact a little, because they release fresh security patches for the next month at the end of the previous one. As a result, they release the September patch in August, the August patch in July, and the July patch in June. But Samsung is responsible not only for the timing of the update, but also for the breadth of coverage of the devices that receive these updates. Take, for example, the assortment of gadgets that shines Android 11.

This is what Android 11 will look like for Samsung smartphones

Unlike competitors who have given up supporting low-cost smartphones in their first year, Samsung is doing differently. Here is the most complete list of devices compatible with Android 11 as of September 2020:

  • Galaxy A01
  • Galaxy A10 / A10e / A10s
  • Galaxy A11
  • Galaxy A20 / A20e / A20s
  • Galaxy A21 / A21s
  • Galaxy A30 / A30s
  • Galaxy A31
  • Galaxy A40
  • Galaxy A41
  • Galaxy A42 5G
  • Galaxy A50 / A50s
  • Galaxy A51 / A51 5G
  • Galaxy A60
  • Galaxy A70 / A70s
  • Galaxy A71 / A71 5G
  • Galaxy A80
  • Galaxy A8s
  • Galaxy A90 5G
  • Galaxy M01
  • Galaxy M11
  • Galaxy M21
  • Galaxy M30s
  • Galaxy M40
  • Galaxy M51
  • Galaxy Xcover 4s
  • Galaxy Xcover FieldPro
  • Galaxy Xcover Pro
  • Galaxy S10 e / S10 / S10 + / S10 5G / S10 Lite
  • Galaxy Note 10 / Note 10 + / Note 10+ 5G / Note 10 Lite
  • Galaxy Note 20 / Note 20 Ultra
  • Galaxy S20 / S20 + / S20 Ultra / S20 Ultra 5G
  • Galaxy Z Flip
  • Galaxy Z Fold 2

As you can see, the list is quite extensive. Another thing is that it, most likely, can still expand, because even offhand I see that the original Galaxy Fold is missing here. Despite the specificity of the model, it still cannot be considered old, which means that an update will definitely shine for it. But its absence from the list is clearly a positive thing, rather than a negative one, since it indicates the likely incompleteness and potential extensibility. After all, it is possible that by the time of release Android 11 Koreans will release several more new smartphones.

When Android 11 comes out for Samsung

Galaxy S10

Android 11 will not be the last update for the Galaxy S10

As for the release dates Android 11 for Samsung smartphones, there can be no definite date, given that it always has a floating nature. Obviously, first of all – approximately in late October – early November – the Koreans will update the flagship smartphones of the 2020 model year. These are Galaxy S20 and Note 20. Then, most likely, the top representatives of the Galaxy A line will be updated: A51, A71 and their 5G – compatible modifications. But for folding devices, obviously, the update may be delayed. Still, before releasing it, Samsung developers will have to work hard to adapt the update to a dual screen.

But there is good news too. For most smartphones in the Galaxy A, Galaxy S and Galaxy Note lines, the update to Android 11 will not be the last. Even last year's devices will continue to receive new versions of the operating system further. This is due to the fact that Samsung has decided to extend the update timeline for its smartphones to three years. Therefore, the Galaxy Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10, which, according to the logic of things, should have been officially outdated next year, will also receive Android 12. So far, except for Samsung and Microsoft, no one has suggested this. .
