Where can I find information about the phone?

Phone details Where can I find general information about phone and battery health? How can I view the firmware version and specifications of my smartphone? Or maybe you need cellular signal strength, roaming, IMEI or IP address? Read further in the article.

About phone

For company phones Xiaomi everything is simple here. Go to Settings> About phone. All basic statistics about your device are collected here.

  • System update – checks if you need to update the proprietary shell MIUI installed on top of Android. If an update is available, download it and charge your phone before installing it. If the battery runs out during the update, the phone may turn into a “brick”.
  • Device name. Set any name for the phone. It will be displayed when paired with other devices via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
  • Model – your phone model.
  • Version Android – The current version of the operating system. Xiaomi very rarely updates their smartphones to the current version of the OS (today it is Android 9 Pie).
  • Security updates Android are also rare updates that are responsible for smartphone security, virus and intrusion protection.
  • Version MIUI – the current version of the global proprietary firmware that is on top of Android. It is also rarely updated.
  • Processor – which processor is installed, how many cores and their frequency.
  • RAM is the current size of RAM. You cannot enlarge. For modern smartphones, 3GB is optimal.
  • Internal storage – the total internal storage of the phone and the space available to the user. Part of the memory is occupied by the OS, firmware MIUI and system applications that cannot be deleted.
  • Communication module firmware – the current version of the communication chip firmware.
  • Kernel version.

The following data is available in the “General Information” section:

  • Battery current status: not charging, USB charging.
  • Charge level in percent.
  • Sim card status:
    • Network – the used cellular network of the operator.
    • Signal strength – shows the quality of the cellular network signal.
    • Mobile network type: 3G, 4G.
    • Mobile network availability: Voice (voice calls) and Data (mobile data transmission, Internet access) in the service area.
    • Roaming – enabled or disabled.
    • Data transmission in the mobile network. No connection if there is no current data transfer or the phone is connected to wifi.
    • My phone number. SIM card status
  • IMEI code data is a unique number of each SIM card slot in your phone. My phone has 2 connectors, so 2 unique numbers. IMEI code data
  • IP address. The current ip address assigned to the phone when connected to the wi-fi network. This is usually a local address that starts with “192.168 ..” The address is given in two systems: ipv4 and ipv6.
  • wi-fi mac-address – unique address of the device, wireless transmitter, which is installed in your device.
  • Address Bluetooth – unique number of the bluetooth transmitter.
  • The serial number is a unique number for your smartphone.
  • Time since power on – how long the phone has been running continuously without rebooting. If the phone starts to slow down and “glitch”, I advise you to restart it more often. Then the timer is reset.

Updating components

This section shows whether you need to update any built-in system component (calendar, clock, calculator, camera, etc.). I recommend choosing automatic update only via wi-fi in the settings in order to consume the mobile traffic package.

Shows the current security of the device, including the following services:

  • google play protection – regularly checks applications in the Play Store for viruses and security. You will be notified if the scan detects something (a potential threat from a specific application on your phone). I advise you never to disable this protection.
