We see ads in the browser and on sites on the Internet every day. Often these ads are shown according to our interests and preferences (contextual advertising), as well as past search queries. Most are fine with this. but the phone has a number of ad settings that not everyone knows about.
Let's go to Settings> Google> Ads.
So, we have several options available:
- Reset advertising ID. At the bottom of the screen, you see your advertising ID number. It can be reset to a random number. Then the ad will start showing from scratch, as if you are a new user. And then it will adapt to your interests. For example, you were previously interested in football and the ads were shown mostly about football. After resetting your ID, you are a new Google user, now interested in skin care products; and ads will be shown based on a new interest – cosmetics. Google will “forget” about your past hobby of football.
- Disable ad personalization. Prevents apps and search engines from tracking your activity in order to serve personalized ads. For many, this option is flawed, because interesting ads for you will disappear.
- Ads from Google. by clicking on the link you will read why ads are shown at all, where does personalized ads come from, how Google forms your ad profile. Information is useless for many – you still can't get rid of ads.
