Optimizing and increasing battery life

Energy saving for Samsung The phone constantly slows down and freezes? Is the battery hot? Not enough RAM to run heavy games and applications? In this article, you will learn how to optimize your smartphone, extend battery life, clear memory, and improve security.

Automatic optimization

To optimize the operation of the Samsung smartphone, go to Settings – Optimization. The scanning process starts automatically, which determines the general condition of your gadget and suggests solutions to speed up your work.

Optimization of the Samsung smartphone

As you can see, the phone is in good condition, but not 100%, so we optimize it. This action will not affect your personal data!

After optimization

After optimization, the phone's performance improved, the memory was freed, the virus scan did not identify any threats, background applications were closed (to free up RAM and speed). Now our device is 100% ready to work.

Battery optimization

Click on the battery icon in the lower left corner of the optimization screen (Settings – Optimization – Battery).

Battery optimization

As you can see, with a 100% charge, the phone will work for 2 days and 2 hours (with an average load).

Statistics

Battery statistics show battery usage data since the phone was last fully charged. And it makes a forecast – approximately the remaining battery life from 1 charge based on the analysis of the intensity of phone use over the last 7 days.

Battery statistics

I have 50 hours with an average operating mode.

Energy saving

There are 3 options for working on Samsung phones:

Power saving modes

  1. Without energy saving – at full capacity, battery power is not saved at all.
  2. Medium (moderate) power saving mode. Extends battery life up to 60 hours. You can reduce the brightness, limit the speed of the CPU (Central Processing Unit), and disable background network usage (i.e., programs in the background will not receive notifications or updates). In my case, this can add another 10 hours of work. Medium (moderate) power saving mode
  3. Maximum level of energy saving. Allows for an extremely extended battery life – up to 181 hours. In this case, the CPU speed is limited to the maximum, the screen brightness is at the minimum, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are disabled, and the programs do not use mobile data and do not receive notifications. Disabled animation and background. Maximum level of energy saving
  4. In my case, the increase in operating time on the Samsung A5 was 131 hours and 30 minutes.

Energy monitoring

This feature detects apps that are consuming battery power in the background. Battery life can be increased by manually or automatically putting these applications to sleep.

In this case, they may not receive updates or send you notifications, but will be awakened when you use them again.

You can start monitoring by going to Settings – Optimization – Battery – Power consumption monitoring.

Sleep programs

In my case, there are 18 applications in sleep mode, which significantly saves my battery power.

List of exclusions

You can specify applications that are not recommended for hibernation. They will be able to use the battery power indefinitely, and the power saving control function will not limit them.

List of exclusions

I do not advise beginners to change anything here. For myself, I chose Kaspersky (increases security) and the WhatsApp messenger (to be always in touch). Additionally, you can choose Google Maps or Maps.Me if you travel frequently.

Constantly sleeping applications

Here you can select those programs and games that will not be able to run in the background. Perhaps they will not update and send you notifications, but you can always update manually in the Play Store.

Constantly sleeping applications

In my case, these are games. They already “eat up” most of the charge, so you need to save on them as much as possible.

Fast charging

Fast charging allows you to charge your battery faster over the cable. The phone may become warm while using this function – watch out for this. If this function is disabled, the smartphone will charge normally.

Attention! For accelerated charging, there must be an appropriate cable – at least 2A current. See the information on the cable itself or on the adapter that you plug into the outlet.

You can activate fast charging as follows: Settings – Optimization – Battery – Advanced. settings (upper right corner) – Fast charging.

Notification settings

Here we can configure receiving notifications from certain applications. Go to Settings – Optimization – Battery – Advanced. settings (upper right corner) – Notification settings.

Notification settings

There are 3 options available:

  • Unused applications. Whether or not to receive notifications from programs that have not been used for more than 3 days.
  • Consuming charge. Whether or not to receive notifications about programs that consume a lot of battery power.
  • Unstable applications. Receive notifications when there are problems with apps that can drain your battery unnecessarily and slow down your phone.
