Google Translate for Android has a new mode with Russian language support

The Google Translate app for Android has received a fresh update with support for a new feature in Russian, Google announced. However, this is, rather, not even a function, but a whole mode, since when it is activated, the application switches from a textual language perception format to a voice one, translating the dictated text in real time. The appearance of this mode has been asking for a long time, because the text in typewritten format is far from always available, but dictated by voice is not so rare.

The new mode in question is called the transcription mode, in fact, performing the transformation of speech into text, only the actual translation from one language to another is added to this process. Despite the fact that at this stage the new mode works only with 8 languages of the world, Russian is also included in their number, which is nice. This means that users from Russia will be able to use it effectively now. However, if the mode has not yet appeared in the application, wait a while, perhaps the wave of propagation has not yet reached you.

How to start transcription mode in Google Translate

The principle of the innovation is very simple. If the update has reached your device, another one will appear in the application mode bar along with 'Camera', 'Handwriting', 'Communication' and 'Voice input'. Clicking on its icon will open a new screen in front of you with a voice input key at the bottom, which will signal the continuation of recording and which will allow you to stop and resume recording if necessary. At the top of the screen, the text itself will appear already in translation. As you listen, Google Translate can change words or match synonyms in real time for more accurate translation, so don't be surprised if things change.

Why is this mode needed? Well, actually the range of its applications is quite wide. Thanks to him, for example, you can translate lectures by teachers, speakers and other speakers who speak a foreign language. Due to the fact that the new 'Google Translate' mode can record continuously for a long time, you can be sure that it will not be interrupted and you will receive all the dictated information in translation, even if there is a lot of it. Then just save the resulting text in the document and use it as intended.

What Google Translate can do

In addition, thanks to the new mode, it is possible to translate the speech of foreigners while traveling, which is super convenient. Because the 'Communication' mode, which has been available in the application for some time now, may not always be suitable. The fact is that it involves a dialogue between two people, requiring that communication be carried out in two languages at once for translation in both directions. In the case of transcription, you can simply write down everything that a foreigner says, especially since sometimes they can not be stopped at all, and then decide what to answer.

In general, Google Translate has changed a lot for the better lately. It has long ceased to be just a text translator, having turned into, in fact, a universal instrument of language perception. It allows not only to conduct dialogues between people speaking different languages, but also to translate information from signs, banners or advertisements, and also to use it as a phrasebook. You just need to add the words you need to travel to a special section, and Google Translate will offer you a translation of each of them and save them for later use.
