To protect all your data (including access to the Internet bank and plastic card data) from loss in the event of a phone breakdown or theft, I recommend using a backup.
In this article, we will analyze 2 ways to backup (archive) and restore your data on your phone. These are Samsung Cloud and Google Drive services.
Setting up Samsung Cloud Backup
To set up backing up all important data, you need a Samsung account – register from your phone. Go to Settings> Cloud & Accounts> Backup and Restore> Backup Settings.
Next, the service will offer to select the data for archiving. I recommend choosing all categories: phone, messages, phone contacts, calendar, clock, all settings, applications, documents, voice recorder, music. But remember about the limited space in the Samsung cloud – only 15 GB. If all the data is not included, do not archive your media files – music, photos and videos. It is easier to save them on a memory card or upload them to a computer via a cable.
After selecting all the required data, click the “Backup” button at the bottom of the screen. The process will take some time, depending on the size of all selected files.
The date of the last backup will be displayed at the top of the screen (if you have done this procedure before). It can be restored, but more on that later.

Recovering Data from Samsung Cloud Backup
Of course, data recovery is possible from a backup to Samsung Cloud, if you have done it before.
Go to Settings> Cloud & Accounts> Backup & Restore> Restore.
Select the backup by date, select the categories of data you want to restore (select all) and click the “Restore” button at the bottom of the screen.
The recovery process will take some time, do not turn off your phone and provide good internet connections (better Wi-Fi).

Back up and restore data in Google Drive
Phone and app data will be automatically backed up to Google Drive (including Wi-Fi passwords, call log, app settings and related files). Go to Settings> Cloud & Accounts> Backup & Restore> Google Account.
Files are archived in Google automatically. What do you need to set up your backup correctly?
- Enable backup.
- Set up a backup account. If not, just add a new account.
Next, enable AutoRecover. In this case, automatic restoration of backup copies of settings and data will occur when the application is reinstalled.
