Samsung Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra review

At the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2020 conference, they showed a lot of interesting things, but in this article I prepared an overview of the Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra line of smartphones.

Design

Samsung has introduced a new color for the flagship – bronze. The Ultra version is available in 3 colors: black, white and bronze. Green is also available for the base model.

Colors

All colors have got the prefix “mystic”, ie. “Mystical white”, “mystical green”, etc. And all of them, as in the rest of the world, will be available in Russia.

Screen

Galaxy Note20 Ultra has a large 6.9-inch screen, 120Hz Dynamic Amoled matrix. The brightness of the display has increased by 25% compared to the Galaxy Note10. The number of dots per inch is 508 PPI.

The display is large, with rounded edges, the resolution is 3200 × 1440 pixels.

The developers have reduced the hole for the front camera.

Front-camera

There are small bezels at the bottom and top of the screen, but in this version of the smartphone they are even thinner.

The display itself is not very rounded at the edges. On the back, the massive triple-camera setup bulges out a lot, but overall looks better than the Galaxy Note10.

Camera block

The regular Galaxy Note20 comes with a 6.7-inch display. The matrix is not Dynamic Amoled 2x, as in the large one, but Super Amoled + with a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels. And the most important difference from the Ultra version – the matrix did not receive a screen frequency of 120 Hz, here it is only 60 Hz.

Body and stylus

The Note20 Ultra has a metal frame on the sides of the case, and Gorilla Glass 7 protects the front and back.

On the Note 20, the front screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, and the back is protected by durable plastic (looks like glass).

From above, you can insert 2 nano SIM cards into the smartphone. There is also a microphone hole.

Top of the case

Bottom is usb-c connector with support, speaker and S Pen stylus. The stylus itself has been greatly improved. If before the response was 40 ms, now it is only 9 ms.

The location of the buttons and stylus on the left side (as in the Note10) has been moved to the right side. For me, this is much more convenient.

The smartphone has a Galaxy Notes application that allows you to work with a stylus. Now you can take notes and simultaneously record audio inside the app. The application also supports pdf files.

Galaxy Notes app

Samsung works closely with Microsoft. Now you can sync your calendars, contacts, mail from computers to Windows.

Plus, you can broadcast your screen, and drag-and-drop is supported.

Dex technology now works simply over Wi-Fi with Samsung TVs.

Powerful speakers with stereo sound are responsible for the sound. The smartphone is protected against water and dust IP68.

In the basic version of Note20, the set of cameras is more modest:

  • 12MP wide-angle camera.
