Despite the fact that Google Chrome is clearly not without flaws, no one has yet managed to surpass it in terms of distribution. Neither Safari, with its anti-tracking mechanisms, nor Opera with a secure web surfing function, nor even Firefox. Users love Chrome for its convenience, a logically laid out interface and a wide range of functions, and therefore they are ready to forgive him even a not very competent mechanism for managing tabs, in which it is still easy to get confused and managing which, if there are many of them, turns out to be rather difficult.
Google Chrome will change the mechanism for managing tabs
Microsoft, which recently released its own Chromium-powered Edge browser, has pledged to help Google implement a convenient tab management mechanism in Chrome. Unfortunately, no one spoke about reducing resource consumption, but in the proprietary browser of the search giant it will be possible to transfer several running web pages to another window at once. This should make it easier to interact with tabs in Chrome, which today can only be transferred one at a time.
Why Edge is better than Google Chrome
Chrome will be able to move multiple tabs to a new window at once
It all started with the fact that Google engineer Leonard Gray expressed his admiration for the convenience of the Edge browser, focusing on the mechanism for moving several tabs to another window. He wrote about this on the Chromium developer portal. His message was answered by employee Microsoft Justin Gallagher and promised to help implement a similar feature in Chrome. Of course, he could not do this without the knowledge of his management, which means, most likely, Microsoft and Google are now working to improve the Chromium platform together.
How much the ability to move multiple tabs at once is really needed is difficult for me personally to judge. In any case, I never had such a need, and if it did, I don’t remember it. But I do not exclude that it can really be useful to someone, especially if you have to work with several pages at the same time. Another thing is that, most likely, this is just a small seed that Microsoft and Google gave users, indirectly confirming their cooperation and potential changes that may await Chrome.
Why does Chrome load my computer
And there really is something to change in Chrome. Personally, I would primarily focus on optimizing resource consumption. After all, if with 5-7 tabs the proprietary Google browser works quite well, then if you open more than 10 web pages at once, this puts a rather serious load on the computer's hardware. As a result, weaker cars start to slow down, and more powerful ones start to spin up the cooler, trying to cool the system from the load from nowhere. At least that's how my Mac behaves.
Exactly when Chrome will launch the new tab management feature is not reported. But I would not expect that its implementation will take place before spring. After all, it is not enough just to write an innovation in the engine's program code; you also need to carry out the necessary tests. This is necessary in order to make sure that the new mechanism will be correctly received by the browser and to exclude all possible bugs and flaws that could prevent it from working. Therefore, focus on April-May, not earlier.
