In this article, we will consider the advantages and disadvantages, features and nuances of operating the OS in fitness trackers Huawei Band 4 Pro and Xiaomi Mi Band 5.
Huawei The Band 4 Pro looks nicer and more presentable than the watch from Xiaomi due to the fact that there is a metal plate on the front panel, and the case itself is the same plastic.
The pulse sensor does not leave marks on your hand after prolonged wear. In the latest Mi Band, such a good imprint remained there.
GPS availability
In fact, the most important advantage Huawei is the presence of a GPS module. Until now, the company Xiaomi does not integrate this very important module into its fitness trackers.
Those. with a fitness tracker Xiaomi, you must definitely take your smartphone with you for a run, because just the accelerometer will never give accurate data. And Xiaomi Mi Band 5 pulls up all the information from the smartphone.
The price difference between the two devices isn't big enough to neglect the presence of GPS.

Dignity Huawei
Huawei has a nice oled color matrix. The maximum brightness is sufficient even in bright sunlight outdoors. Unfortunately, there is no light sensor, so there is no auto-brightness function.
The operating time is long and is exactly 5 days declared by the manufacturer.
The case is waterproof to 5 ATM. Those. in the watch you can safely swim in the pool and measure the number of lanes passed.
And there is also a sleep detection function. There is a smart alarm clock, i.e. it will wake you up in the most favorable phase of sleep (hand movements and pulse are monitored).

Disadvantages Huawei
The body Huawei of the Band 4 Pro has neither a speaker nor a microphone. Those. you can hear about an incoming notification or a call only by vibration of the case. You cannot respond to a notification, just like an incoming call.
If you think that this function is useless, then you are very much mistaken. I use it all the time on my Apple watch.
So the maximum that you get from this fitness tracker is to see the incoming notification, read it (and even then not all, if it is long), and also see the incoming call (reject it or put it in silent mode).
There is no Always On Display function, so as not to constantly raise your hand and not press the touch button.
As for the touch button itself, it does not always respond. The accuracy of Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is much higher than that of Huawei. Sometimes you have to press it several times to return to the home tap.
And the main drawback is the lack of an NFC module. You cannot pay for a purchase using a fitness tracker. Although Xiaomi NFC modules have always been (from the 4th version of Mi Band 4, you can connect some Russian banks).
On the officer. the site says that the tracker should determine the level of oxygen in the blood. Quite a useful function for those who play sports. If the indicator falls below 92%, the workout should be stopped, and if it is below 90%, consult a doctor. I am sorely missing this feature in Apple Watch 5.
But on the forums, the owners of Huawei Band 4 Pro write that they do not have such a function. We will wait for the software update.
There are very few native accessories for this fitness tracker. A pair of original official straps store Huawei – everything else will have to be looked for in third-party stores.
And the process of replacing the strap itself is not very convenient. First you need to get a special bracket, and then remove the strap. The procedure itself is not pleasant. Those. there is no quick release strap as in the same Apple Watch or Xiaomi Mi Band 5.
The tracker Huawei has no anti-theft function, i.e. when removed, the device is not locked. Mi Band 5 has a passcode.

Interface Huawei Band 4 Pro
On the main screen we see a dial, and it is not interactive. No widgets that were recently implemented in Xiaomi Mi Band 5.
If you tap on the display, then we go to the information menu. Here you can see the active bluetooth connection, the percentage of the charge and unread notifications. And to view these notifications, you need to swipe from left to right.
The Home touch button always returns to the home screen. And to go back from any menu, you just need to swipe from left to right.
The entire main menu is arranged vertically, i.e. controlled by swipes up or down. All menu items:
- Activity – number of steps, calories burned, distance covered.
- Pulse – a measurement of your heart rate.
- Smart alarm function – opens only through the proprietary application and is configured only there. Shows how many hours you slept today.
- Workout. Several activity options: treadmill running, outdoor walking, outdoor running, indoor walking, bicycle, ellipse, stationary bike, rowing machine, pool swimming, open water swimming, free workout. You can end your workout by long pressing the Home sensor button.
- Messages (Action Center). You can not only view messages, but also delete them. It is impossible to read the entire message completely – only part of it is displayed. By opening each of the messages, you automatically delete it. And you can delete all messages by scrolling down the list and clicking “Delete all”.
- In the More menu, you can access additional applications related to clock functions. This is a timer, stopwatch, dials.
A few hours can be set in the timer when Xiaomi Mi Band 5 has a maximum of 99 minutes. Moreover, the timer can be minimized (it will not be reset and the program will not crash), but in Xiaomi the timer cannot be minimized.
In the dials, you can choose any dial (there are about 100 of them in total), but only if you have a Android smartphone. Since iPhone there is no possibility to choose a dial.
- There is a phone search function, brightness adjustment, the screen is on (you can set the amount of time until it is on, and then it will go out and will not display anything).
- Battery charge level. Although why this function is taken out separately, if the remainder of the battery can be viewed from the desktop, if you tap on it.
- System – reset the fitness tracker to factory settings, restart it, or turn it off.
Russian localization, i.e. the font in Huawei looks just awful. Text comes in different sizes, with different spacing between words and letters. All this does not look very nice.

Branded fitness tracker app
application Huawei Health is almost identical, that on iOS, that on Android. Plus Android has a nicer interface and you can choose a dial.
There are settings for monitoring heart rate, adding a smart alarm clock. Unfortunately, it is impossible to look at the weather on the fitness tracker for several days in advance, and there is no detailed forecast for the day either.
In the settings, the most you can do is activate the weather report and select the temperature units.
In the “Notifications” section, you can select the programs from which you want to receive notifications specifically for the fitness tracker, and there are also deeper device settings.
There is a “Do not disturb” function, control of the music player from the watch and other minor ones.

Other Features Huawei Band 4 Pro
The fitness tracker has a rather strange charge. Strange fixture with pluggable charging cable.
Charging goes through a micro-usb cable. And this is a rather outdated interface. The company itself Huawei already uses usb-c almost everywhere.
Like all fitness trackers, it has a very small screen. And if it is enough for everyday use, then it is inconvenient when playing sports.

conclusions
If you are active in sports and do not have the money for a normal smartwatch, then the Huawei Band 4 Pro is a great choice because it has a GPS module. And it will definitely be better than Xiaomi Mi Band 5.
But if you don't play sports and you don't need a GPS module, but you need autonomy and other software chips, then Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will be much more interesting.
