Today Huawei is the only mass smartphone manufacturer that can install Android on their devices, and does so, but cannot use Google services. However, every year the company continues to prepare its firmware updates based on the current version of the “green robot”. This time we will not be left without updates either, but they will definitely not appear tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. At a minimum, first Android 11 itself should come out, and then after a while the EMUI 11 update will appear. So when can we expect new features to appear and what will they be like? What will be the main difference between EMUI 11 and EMUI 10 and other versions of this firmware?
The new EMUI version should be interesting. So let's see what it will be like.
When is EMUI 11 coming out
As the Android 11 release approaches, we see companies moving towards releasing their own skins Android. While Xiaomi is a special case of its MIUI which is not really version dependent Android, other companies prefer to launch their new firmware based on on newer versions of itself Android. This trend can be seen in Oppo, OnePlus and Huawei. Fans Huawei are waiting to see the next big EMUI update. And now they seem to have waited.
According to Wang Chenglu, President of Business Software Department Huawei, EMUI 11 will be released in the third quarter of 2020. Unfortunately, the manager was unable to reveal the specific features that we should expect. However, he hinted that EMUI 11 will be based on distributed technology. This will significantly improve the overall application performance and usability.
Distribution technology Huawei
Huawei Central has posted more details on the new distributed technology that Huawei will unveil with EMUI 11. This technology will include new intelligence and application capabilities. They will apply to all scenarios.
What's new in EMUI 11 is not clear yet, but there will be a lot of new things.
We will get a deeper integration of devices into a single infrastructure. This will make it easier for users to communicate if they have multiple supported devices at home. For example, you can make HD video calls between multiple devices. Users can also make audio and video calls anytime, anywhere with smart accessories.
If there is an incoming call, you can answer it using a smart speaker. If it's a video call, you can answer through the TV. There will also be direct communication with vehicles and even drones so that beautiful views can be shared in real time.
As for the application in the office, then the innovations will come in handy even more. You can broadcast your screen for presentations and easily share data using drag-and-drop gestures. For this, all hardware capabilities will be used, including the display, camera, microphone and speaker of the device. Users will be able to use all these capabilities on different devices and even use scripts.
It sounds nice, but firstly, some of this already exists, and secondly, we still have to wait until all this finally becomes part of the firmware that can be downloaded. With a high degree of probability, the firmware (or some of its functions) will not be supported by existing models Huawei from the budget segment.
Will Huawei migrate to HarmonyOS
As soon as they started talking about the fact that Huawei would remain without the support of Google, everyone immediately began to talk about their own operating system Huawei. As a result, the company really did a great job of preparing it. It would be more correct to say even a revision, because the operating system already existed before that.
Apparently, Huawei is in no hurry to switch to its own software.
The report also states that EMUI 11 will be based on Android 11 and no changes are expected in this plan yet. The company will not be releasing HarmonyOS for smartphones this year as it is working hard to grow its mobile services ecosystem Huawei. Although, this does not mean that some functions of the proprietary operating system cannot be expected in the new version of EMUI 11.
Which smartphones will receive EMUI 11
It's too early to talk about supported devices, but you can safely count on all current models that were released no more than two years ago. According to some information, owners of lines Huawei P30, Huawei P40, Huawei Mate 20 will be able to upgrade to the 11th version of the software from Huawei , Huawei Mate 30 and some other devices. There is no clarity with the budget segment yet.
When will there be a presentation of EMUI 11
Most likely, we will see a new version of EMUI 11 at the conference Huawei for developers. The event should take place next month or late September.
Besides the updated version of EMUI, we will also see a new version of HarmonyOS. Almost certainly, the conference will talk about other things related to the operation of devices Huawei and the infrastructure it develops.

It's nice that the company doesn't give up trying to offer not just a pass-through version of the software, but a full-fledged update. At the same time, she does it from year to year. Of course, this year there will also be a lot of visual changes and beautiful features, but it's too early to talk about it – we'll see them later. If the described innovations do appear in EMUI 11, then it will be very good.
