Are there any normal tablets on Android? This question is asked by many users who lack a phone, but do not want to buy a laptop and carry it with them. And the tablet allows you to do a lot of things that neither a smartphone nor a laptop allows. Statistics show that the tablet market is going through hard times. This is due not only to the general decline in interest in gadgets, but also to the fact that smartphone applications have become so good and they are so successfully adapted for small screens that there is simply no need for more. Despite this, companies continue to produce tablets, and not only do this Apple. But are they worth our attention?
This tablet looks pretty good.
First impression of the Huawei MatePad Pro
I started my acquaintance with the Huawei MatePad Pro with its price tag. Of course, against the background of iPad Pro, its price does not seem so high, but it somehow cannot be called small either. The maximum version with 6/128 GB memory and support for a SIM card can be purchased for 49,990 rubles.
On the site Huawei, as always, there are very complex prices, which you still have to try to figure out. As a result, buying there for the same money, you can get a complete set with a stylus and a keyboard, which separately cost about 10,000 rubles each. This makes the price of the kit very attractive.
I found the price high due to the fact that other tablets on Android are much cheaper, and here they are without Google services, but technically the device is really cool and it has several nice features that neither can boast one other tablet.
Otherwise, what I liked the most was the build quality and the way the tablet sits in the hands. It has very nicely fastened edges, buttons with the very elasticity that they should have.
Tablet screen Huawei
I have only one complaint about the screen – the hole for the camera. It seems to me that in this regard Apple went the right way, leaving a little thicker frames for her iPad Pro 11, but placing a camera and other equipment in one of them. In a tablet, narrow frames are not as critical as in a smartphone (and sometimes, on the contrary, it is only more convenient to hold onto them). As a result, the bezels were only 4.9 mm, and the front panel coverage was 91%.
Why does the tablet need this hole?
I have no more complaints about the screen. It reproduces colors well and is IPS, which is very good for a tablet. The brightness is 540 nits. This is more than enough even on a sunny day.
Screen diagonal 10.8 inches. At 2560 by 1600 pixels, this delivers a density of 280 dpi.
The sensor's sensitivity is good, as is the response speed. However, for this we should thank the already high performance.
Performance Huawei MatePad Pro
There is only one memory option for the new tablet. On board all devices, without exception, there will be 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of permanent memory. There is support for memory cards, but the Nano Memory format.
More models do not differ in anything, except that the more expensive version has support for SIM-cards. There is no such luxury in the cheaper version.
The Huawei MatePad Pro is powered by the Kirin 990 processor, which powers the newest smartphone models Huawei. It has more than enough performance, so all games and demanding applications will work just fine. Let's just say – it just won't work out better until they come up with a new, more productive hardware.
Harman Kardon is not just for you.
An audio system that has a loud enough sound and high sound quality will be a pleasant surprise. To prevent one speaker from blowing over the rest, there are four of them in the smartphone, and they are tuned with the assistance of Harman / Kardon specialists. If you haven't heard, this is a premium speaker brand.
There is no audio jack, so you will have to use an adapter, headphones with USB Type-C, or just wireless headphones, which are long overdue for everyone to switch.
Traditionally, Google services are not supported. As a result, you will need to install applications from the AppGallery store. But the good news is that there is already a lot of what we are all used to. Although, of course, not all.
AppGallry is certainly not Google Play, but it does its best.
Charge your phone from your tablet
Of all the tablets I've dealt with, only the Huawei MatePad Pro has reverse wireless charging. In addition to being able to charge itself wirelessly, it can also charge other devices such as headphones or phones. I tried charging from it Huawei P40 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro and no problems occurred. I was pleasantly surprised by the charging speed, which even lags behind the stationary charger, but still allows you to fill the phone with energy quickly enough.
The tablet is charged via USB Type-C or from wireless charging.
In a tablet, this feature is much more useful than in a phone, since the battery capacity Huawei of the MatePad Pro is 7250 mAh. The tablet supports charging up to 40W, but only a 20W power supply is included. Wireless charging is only supported up to 15W, although this is a very big achievement for a tablet. Do you know a lot of similar gadgets with such a function?
Can a tablet have a good camera
A camera in a tablet is rarely needed, since it is much easier to use a smartphone for this. However, the creators of the Huawei MatePad Pro did not make it for show. It is impossible to call it very cool, since it does not have enough modules for this (only one), and the quality is lower than that of the flagship, but still it is not a shame for it.
There is only one main camera module.
The only complaint is that the main camera is in the same place as the front one. Considering that each module is very thick, we can say that such a solution seems strange. Perhaps you should have placed them in different places. It is possible that then the camera would stick out much less.
Sample photos on the camera Huawei MatePad Pro:
The resolution of the main camera is only 13 Mp, and the front camera is 8 Mp. But the aperture will be f / 1.8 and f / 2.0, respectively.
Accessories Huawei MatePad Pro
As mentioned above, the accessories include an M-pencil stylus and a keyboard case. They are suitable for those who need a tablet for work. If you type a lot or like to draw, then you will definitely need them.
The keyboard has nice keys and is very similar to the keyboard of a compact laptop. It will turn the tablet into a kind of laptop.
The stylus is no less interesting. It is powered by a built-in battery that charges wirelessly. It is enough, as in the case of iPad Pro, to attach it to the side of the tablet, as it becomes magnetised and starts charging.
Android 10 and current EMUI in place.
It allows you not only to poke at the screen and select the desired items, but also supports 4096 degrees of pressure. That is, you can press on the screen a little harder and draw thicker lines. There may be other scenarios of use, but it all depends on the software developers.
Should you buy the Huawei MatePad Pro
It seems to me that 49,990 rubles for a tablet, the analogs of which are much cheaper, is expensive. At the same time, if you get a stylus and a keyboard as a gift, the price will become much more pleasant, and you will almost get a laptop.
The back wall of the tablet tends to blurt out.
If you are not confused by the lack of Google services, which are not so critical on the tablet, you might like this option. On the tablet, people do not use Instagram, WhatsApp and other applications (but they use Telegram, in which we have our own chat), which must be installed separately from the app store. This means that there should be no problems with use. On the other hand, there are several ways to bring Google services back to devices Huawei, although Google is working to shut them down.
If the above does not bother you and you were looking for such a tablet, you better have time to buy it with gifts on the manufacturer's website. Although, perhaps they will not go anywhere. It is unlikely that Huawei MatePad Pro will be in crazy demand. However, as well as on other tablets. This is not the device everyone needs.
