First of all, you need to remember that from a hardware point of view, they practically do not differ from each other. Therefore, you should pay attention not to the processor and the amount of RAM, but to other indicators such as battery capacity, internal memory speed, camera features and others. Well, and, of course, one should not forget that flagships are falling in price extremely rapidly, losing up to 40% in price in six months or a year, allowing you to buy a still top-end device for quite reasonable money. First, let's define my attitude towards flagships. I really think that buying them at the start of sales is always rash, because in a couple of months the new product will start to fall in price, and in 6-8 months, as they say now, it will reach a plateau. That is, if its price continues to fall, it will not be as noticeable as before. Therefore, I think the optimal waiting period before buying a flagship is 4-6 months. But, if you ask me if it is worth spending money on a flagship at all, I will answer unequivocally yes. The main thing is that it is not a flagship from Xiaomi.

In 2018 Xiaomi introduced the flagship Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. The device turned out to be very cool – the ceramic body, slider form factor and support for wireless charging made it an excellent contender for a purchase. The only drawback of the novelty was the processor of the previous year – Snapdragon 845. Therefore, the device did not find much popularity and, in order to spur its sales, Xiaomi released an improved version with support 5G and the latest Snapdragon 855 processor.
Modification from 5G I liked even more than the original. After all, not only did the Chinese make it more powerful, but they also increased the battery capacity by almost 400 mAh. But the real surprise was ahead of me. The Mi Mix 3 5G, which went on sale at a price of 600 euros, dropped in price first to 350, and then to 280 euros in just a few months. The minimum price, which was fixed by me at the sale organized by AliExpress, was completely set at around 240 euros, or about 15 thousand rubles. Yes, not a single smartphone with Snapdragon 855 was worth that kind of money at that time, and there was still support here 5G!

The thing is that 5G – the version has, firstly, a different modem firmware, for which you need to optimize the update in a special way, and, secondly, it was not sold in such a large circulation that at all bother about the existence of such a model. For me Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G became an excellent litmus test that showed my true face Xiaomi. It's not that I had any illusions about this company before – not at all. It's just that at least I did not have any thoughts that the Chinese could easily abandon, in fact, the main smartphone that personifies its latest achievements in the field of technology. After all, support is no less important aspect than hardware, because thanks to updates, the functionality of the smartphone is improved and bugs that are always in the firmware are fixed. But Xiaomi thinks it doesn't matter.
Why am I writing all this? I just want to convey to you that sometimes the Chinese are still the Chinese, no matter what they try to hide behind. Don't be fooled by the low price at which Xiaomi sells its products. Yes, the company does make a frankly small margin of 8-12% on their sale. However, this happens because she can just take and leave a completely not old and promising smartphone, having stopped releasing updates for it. Therefore, if you have a choice – to take a mid-priced Samsung or a top-end Xiaomi, it is probably better to give preference to the Koreans, who at least will not give up supporting their offspring half way.
