Why take a closer look at the Google Pixel 1

Google introduced the first generation Pixel a few years ago. The device turned out to be quite interesting due to the fact that it offered clean Android, frequent updates, good looks and a great camera. Since then, Google has introduced many new devices in the lineup, but we still feel like we shouldn't throw out the very first Pixel when choosing a new device. In this post, we'll take a look at why the Pixel 1 is worth taking a closer look at and why it's good for 2020.

Is the Google Pixel still relevant?

It's worth starting with what is good about the very first Pixel, firstly, in 2020 there is still a good Snapdragon 821 processor, and secondly, the operating system Android version 10 is installed here, the device received 4 GB of operational memory 32/128 GB of built-in, as well as a sufficiently capacious battery for 2770 milliampere hours. Yes, perhaps these are not so attractive specifications for 2020, but they are still not bad when comparing the device with mid-budget solutions from Chinese manufacturers, but the most important thing for which this device is so good is its camera, and we are the one now and consider in more detail.

The smartphone has an 8 megapixel camera module from Sony. I was prompted to write the material by the publication of one of the users of Reddit, who decided to share with the readers an image – or rather a photo – taken with this phone. You can see how high quality it looks even today:

The Pixel may not have done that well with shadows and HDR +, but the color reproduction is amazing. After that, I decided to study how well the device's camera handles photographs, and I searched the Internet for examples made by ordinary users, the result may surprise you:

On AliExpress, a smartphone can be bought for a rather ridiculous 7.000 rubles, if you look at analogs from Chinese manufacturers, for the same price you will not find a more attractive offer if you need a smartphone for photographing. Surprisingly, even after so many years, the company's device looks relevant, and all thanks to a high-quality camera, in addition, in comparison with cheap rival phones, the Pixel of the first generation offers premium body materials in the form of glass and metal, which cannot even be offered today Xiaomi in their phones for 15-20 thousand rubles, not to mention other more famous Chinese and non-Chinese brands.

If the diagonal of the standard Pixel is not enough for you, you can take a closer look at its XL version, it already offers a 5.5-inch screen. Of course, even this is not enough in 2020, and this is rather a compromise, because you need to sacrifice something when buying such an old phone. It is interesting to know what our readers think about this. Share your opinion in the Telegram chat and do not forget to share your comments under this publication.

Why does everyone love Google phones?

The fact is that their main feature is the support of the company itself. Pixel smartphones are the fastest to receive updates, and yet they run extremely smoothly. Almost every owner of this device notes how pleasant it is to use Pixel due to its speed and smoothness. We recently reviewed the camera capabilities of the Google Pixel 3a. And even taking into account its low cost of $ 400, the smartphone does an excellent job of photographing and filming in comparison with modern flagships from other manufacturers. Yes, many will think that there is a strong gap between these devices, and for sure the first generation Pixel is no longer relevant, but this is not so. And this amazing ability of Google to create products that will seem relevant even after so many years, of course, surprises me. Does it surprise our readers?
