Why don't I switch from Android to iPhone SE 2020, although I was going to

iPhone SE 2020 was doomed to success even before its release. Whatever it actually turned out, fans hungry for smartphones with normal prices Apple would still buy it. And for them after iPhone 11, any device cheaper than 60 thousand will be considered affordable. Another thing is that the majority of users Android, who have completely different ideas about the availability of smartphones, have no reason to switch to the new iPhone SE. I say this not by hearsay, because although I myself was going to buy a new product for myself, in the end I simply changed my mind.

iPhone SE 2020 everyone wants? Well, actually not really

Those who regularly read our site should know that my main smartphone is Honor View 20. Despite the fact that now it has risen somewhat in price, it cost me about 20 thousand rubles to buy it taking into account the trade-in. At one time, when my previous device ordered me to live a long time, I carefully analyzed the market and realized that this is exactly the device that will work out every penny.

Honor View 20 is my main smartphone today

After all, if all modern flagships have comparable hardware and the same 2 years of software support, what's the point of overpaying? Moreover, its functionality turns out to be, if not cooler than others, then at least not worse. Therefore, I bought a View 20 and forgot about the agony of choice for almost 8 months, namely until a new iPhone SE came out.

What is iPhone SE 2020 better than iPhone 11

iPhone SE 2020 I liked primarily the combination of advanced filling and a relatively low price. Still, its closest competitor – iPhone 11 – costs 60 thousand rubles, or a third more. No, of course, in the case of the flagship, there really is a reason for overpayment, but only if we compare it in relative terms. In absolute terms, it becomes clear that I am not ready to pay three prices of my current one for a new smartphone.

And so View 20 shoots in low light conditions. In my opinion, quite worthy

However, before placing an order for iPhone SE 2020, I decided to figure out if this purchase is so profitable. To do this, I just took a sheet of paper and wrote down all the advantages Honor View 20, for which I once made a choice in its favor.

Why buy Honor View 20

  • The Kirin 980 processor is the first processor for Android – smartphones, which is made according to the 7nm process technology and at the same time is a complete analogue of the Snapdragon 855;
  • Honor View 20 out of the box has 60 fps support in Fortnite, which the vast majority of modern flagships do not have Android;
  • Camera Honor View 20 has a 48-megapixel sensor, support for 2x optical zoom and a lidar sensor, which is just to appear in iPhone 12;
  • The battery capacity Honor View 20 equals 4000 mAh and provides it – I'm not kidding – up to two days of operation under load and 3-4 days on condition of light use;
  • Display Honor View 20 has a diagonal of 6.5 inches, resolution Full HD and occupies about 90% of the front panel.

Should you buy iPhone SE 2020

Honor View 20 is too good for its price to change to iPhone SE 2020

What can the new iPhone SE offer me? Well, this is clearly more modern and productive hardware, long-term software support and, given how long the original iPhone SE remained relevant, we can assume that the sequel will be at least as good as it gets. That, in general, is all. Another thing is that the performance of modern smartphones is a very conditional and relative thing, since in reality flagships and mid-range devices work about the same. As for support, Apple offers me to pay twice as much for my smartphone, which will last twice as long. But is it worth it?

In my opinion, given the advantages of Honor View 20, no, and again no. Indeed, after a year and a half, I will be able to buy Honor View 40 or View 50, depending on what will be relevant at that time. Having bought iPhone SE 2020, I would have been forced to use the same smartphone further, wanting to recoup its cost, while, remaining at Android, I would have already changed two devices, which will clearly be several times cooler than modern ones at a price that is probably comparable to my View 20.
