OnePlus has long stood alone in the smartphone world. It all started a few years ago with the release of the first generation of the smartphone. Then the lineup grew and even the “T” model appeared, which refreshes the line and allows you to update it not once a year, but every six months, adding the latest technical solutions. This year we got another model – the affordable OnePlus Nord. That's nice, but it doesn't undo the OnePlus 8T coming out this year, and we now have more information on that. We can say with a high degree of confidence what it will be like, and most importantly, when it will go on sale. Perhaps this year, due to well-known events, the demand for the new product will be less than usual, but it still arouses interest. Let's discuss what the OnePlus 8T will be like.
New OnePlus products are interesting not only to fans of the brand, but also to those who treat it with distrust.
OnePlus 8T specs
As I said, OnePlus has been regularly releasing a new T-line smartphone every year. Last year, the OnePlus 7T came out at the end of September, while its improved version, the OnePLus 7T Pro, delayed a bit and came out in October. Based on this, we can make the assumption that this year will not be an exception and we will see the novelty at about the same time. That is, there is literally a month left to wait before we find out everything about him officially.
So far, you can almost certainly say what it will be, based on leaks and data from analysts and insiders. It is already known that the new smartphone is codenamed Kebab. Apparently, it will have a 6.55-inch screen. Naturally, this will be AMOLED – display. Unlike the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 8, which both supported 90Hz refresh rates, the OnePlus 8T will likely have a 120Hz refresh rate display just like the older model in the current lineup.
Compared to the OnePlus 8, the novelty will offer better specifications, but it will not be a completely new model.
The smartphone will probably be equipped with four cameras, among which there will again be one goofy macromodule, from which the company is strongly unwilling to give up. To summarize, the four modules will have the following resolution options:
- 48MP main camera
- 16MP wide-angle camera
- 5 megapixel macro camera
- 2MP portrait lens
How OnePlus 8T differs from OnePlus 8
The OnePlus 8 also has a 48MP main camera, but the OnePlus 8T is expected to be equipped with a new image sensor to capture better photos. This is important because resolution is not the only quality criterion for the resulting photos. It is much more important to have a large physical size of each pixel and, as a consequence, of the entire matrix.
You shouldn't expect any major changes in the appearance of the device relative to the OnePlus 8 released earlier this year. This is logical, as usually smartphones of the “T” line did not differ from the mother model, if you can call it that.
The novelty will work, as it should be, on the Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, which appeared this summer and for which, in fact, the novelty is being released. The OnePlus 8T will have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage on board. These are not the largest numbers, but there will likely be other options that potential buyers may find much more attractive. True, they will cost more than the basic version.
When will OnePlus 8T come out
Last year, the OnePlus 7T became the first OnePlus smartphone to initially run on Android 10 as the pre-installed operating system. Now you can safely expect the new product to work on Android 11, continuing the tradition of earlier models. On top of Android itself, the proprietary OxygenOS 11 shell will be installed, which has many fans. After that, the rest of the models will be updated to Android 11, including all the new items of this year – OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus Nord.
The release of OnePlus Nord made a splash. If the OnePlus 8T solidifies the result, the company will greatly increase the level of interest in its products.
It turns out that at the beginning of next month we can get a smartphone, which will be an excellent option for those who did not buy OnePlus 8 in due time, but wants to do it now. For his expectation, he will be rewarded, even if not as significant improvements as they could be, but getting something more powerful for the same money is always nice.
How much will OnePlus 8T cost
As for the price, it will most likely be at the same level as the OnePlus 8. That is, you can count on a price tag in the region of $ 800-900. In the current situation, such a price tag cannot seem small, so the company has something to work on. Let's hope OnePlus can surprise us and deliver a lower price tag.
In the end, we also expected a higher price tag from OnePlus Nord, and it became even by $ 50, but lower. It's always nice. If the company can throw off $ 50-100 from the price of OnePlus 8T, then the new product will become one of the most popular flagships in the markets where it is presented.
Unfortunately, there is no information yet on the availability of the device in Russia. Most likely, at first those who want to buy the device will have to overpay for the services of “servo carriers” or place an order on foreign sites. Perhaps everything will be fine and the new product will be immediately sold in Russia, but you shouldn't count on it too much.
