In 2018, Zini Mobiles launched the Tiny T1 phone project on KickStarter. It became the smallest phone in the world. This time the company decided to repeat the success, but now we will talk about Tiny T2 , the main feature of which is 3G support. What else sets it apart from last year's model? Let's figure it out.
Tiny 2 is the smallest 3G smartphone in the world
First, let's compare the dimensions of the devices. The Tiny T2 weighs only 31 grams, but the T1 weighs 13 grams (twice as light), and the T1 is 21 mm wide and 46.7 mm high. The thickness of its case is 12 mm. T2 was larger in all respects. Its width is 30 millimeters, height is 61 mm, and the thickness of the case is an impressive 16.5 mm. But this is due to the presence of a 500 mAh battery. For comparison, the PALM smartphone, which is much larger in size, has a battery of only 800 mAh. The Tiny T1 has a 200mAh battery.
The Tiny T2 is powered by a MTK MT6276A processor and is equipped with a 1-inch TFT display with a resolution of 128 x 96 pixels. It has a 0.3 megapixel camera with flash and video recording, memory cards up to 32 GB are supported. There is also a physical keyboard, a power button, and a Nano SIM slot. Supports MP3 and MP4 ringtones, SMS, MMS, Bluetooth and 3G networks. There is a USB port and it is possible to listen to music in MP3 and AMR format. The RAM in the device is 64 MB, and the built-in memory is 128 MB.
Tiny T2
Let's take a look at T1. The phone a year ago offered a processor MTK 6261D, 32 MB of RAM and 32 MB of internal memory, OLED – a screen with a diagonal of 0.49 inches and a resolution of 64 × 32. There was no support for MP3, MP4, there was no Bluetooth, there was no 3G either. There was nothing at all. His main task was to make calls. In Tiny 2, everything has been improved. But there is one point that raises questions. Obviously the company saved on the die by using conventional TFT technology instead of OLED. The latter are distinguished by lower power consumption in dark colors. Besides OLED – the displays are thinner, this is one of the reasons why the T1 has a noticeably thinner case compared to the T2.
Tiny T1 is smaller than Tiny T2
Now we propose to compare their appearance. The T2 has grown in height and width due to the larger 1-inch display. T2 now plays popular games including Crossy Road, Stick Hero and Doodle Jump. Due to the presence of the camera, the T2 feels like an even more complete gadget that can replace the usual smartphones. 3G support does not make it possible to use the browser – it simply does not exist here. It means the ability to work with multiple operators that no longer support the usual 2G networks.
How much does it cost?
A very early build is priced at $ 59. The most final version of the KS Special is priced at $ 79. Tiny T1 cost less – only $ 50. The cost of the device probably does not exceed $ 20; the complexity of the project lies precisely in the need to comply with the minimum dimensions. Why are manufacturers increasing the size of smartphones? Simply because operating systems become more demanding on resources, it increases battery consumption, so manufacturers increase the size of their devices in order to compensate for the needs of iron.
Who needs such a phone?
Anyone who often plays sports and does not like to carry bags with them. It is easy to hold such a phone in your pocket and even in your hand when needed. It will be a great solution for running and yoga. How do you like this unit? Are you ready to consider buying it. If so, now is the time to do it, as the Kickstarter company is already up and running. Do not forget to share your opinion in the comments and subscribe to us on Telegram.
