Should you buy the Redmi Note 8 Pro. What the owners say

Despite the fact that recently Xiaomi has hit the price competition with Apple, inexpensive smartphones still remain in its range. Moreover, they are inexpensive in relation to Russian salaries, and not the flagship Mi 10, which came to us at a price of 70 thousand rubles. The Chinese company now manufactures such devices under an independent brand Redmi, which can be considered the continuer of the tradition of the same Xiaomi, when its products were called 'top for their money'. But Redmi has a fairly wide assortment, we will only talk about the Note 8 Pro.

Redmi Note 8 Pro is good, but is it worth buying?

Based on the number of reviews on Yandex.Market, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is one of the most – if not the most – popular smartphones of the brand. There is nothing strange about this. It has a large 6.5-inch display, a good design by the standards of 2020, which is not spoiled even by a drop-shaped notch for the front camera, a four-camera main module with ultra-wide, macro and telephoto lenses, a capacious battery and NFC and at the same time costs only 15 -17 thousand rubles depending on the configuration, which differ from each other only in the amount of memory: 6/64, 6/128, 8/128 GB.

Almost 90% of all reviews for Redmi Note 8 Pro are positive

Let's start with the fact that Redmi Note 8 Pro has almost 10 times more positive reviews (score '4' and '5'), regardless of the amount of memory, than negative ones. This allows us to conclude that, in general, buyers were satisfied with their choice. Moreover, which was very surprising for me, it is the camera that is most admired.

'I took it for the camera. I can't say that it is perfect, but I have never had the best one in a smartphone. Everything you need shoots very well. As a photographer, I have something to compare with. The camera is good, but not perfect. 64 MP is practically marketing, not to mention a macro camera that is not needed at all. Also a rather weird night shot that tries to make day out of night. The main drawback of the camera is that it sticks out strongly on the back panel and it must be protected with a special glass and a cover. It is also sad that the camera does not allow you to save images in RAW, 'wrote one of the users.

Just look at how the Note 8 Pro worked the hairs on the ears of the cat.

'The camera is not 64 megapixel, but it shoots very well: there is built-in sharpness like on an iPhone, the colors are more pleasant (pinkish, not yellow), if you take pictures close up (for example, a flower, but do not turn on the macro mode), it will seem what if a photo is taken with a camera, because a certain part will be in sharpness, and already the back petals will begin to blur – it looks professional. So there is also a wide-angle camera, it is very convenient, and when shooting video, very smooth zooming, I really like it, 'another user confirmed the quality of the camera.

Camera Redmi Note 8 Pro – its main advantage

It turns out that the camera of Redmi Note 8 Pro is really good, however, if you read the reviews, it becomes clear that there are a number of reservations that you will be satisfied with:

  • It is best to photograph using a standard module, without using the rest. Due to their low resolution, the quality of photos will be far from ideal.
  • There is no point in taking pictures in full resolution, because, firstly, the smartphone starts to slow down due to the too large file weight, and, secondly, such photos take up too much memory space.
  • The built-in camera application is inconvenient to use, despite the abundance of settings, built-in special effects and modes that seem to be aimed at improving the quality of shooting.
  • To squeeze the maximum out of the camera Redmi Note 8 Pro, it is best to install the Google camera. It will add support for a full-fledged night mode to the smartphone and ensure the maximum quality of shooting during the day.

Problems Redmi Note 8 Pro

Processor MediaTek is one of the main issues Redmi Note 8 Pro

However, there are also negative aspects. Practice shows that, despite the Gorilla Glass 5 of which the body is composed, it is prone to scratches no less than previous generations. Therefore, if you are still neat, it is best to use a cover and a protective film – they will protect the smartphone's surface from damage. They will also protect it from falls, which are inevitable, given the rather large body and tangible weight – the Note 8 Pro weighs as much as 200 grams Redmi, which is quite a lot by today's standards.

It's strange that few people talk about the processor. The Redmi Note 8 Pro is based on the MediaTek G90T chip, which, although productive, has a number of undeniable drawbacks. First of all, these are, of course, compatibility problems with some types of software from Google Play. Unfortunately, the developers do not specify which applications suffer from optimization problems, and therefore you will have to identify them manually. The second drawback is the actual prohibition on flashing, because, as it turned out, MediaTek does not provide users with tools for installing custom firmware. But if it doesn't matter to you, take it boldly. Redmi Note 8 Pro is a really cool device for the money.
