Samsung flagship started taking worse pictures due to a bug Xiaomi

Samsung flagships have an unpleasant bug related to the quality of the images taken with the front camera. The problem was revealed to our colleagues from Phonearena.com, who used the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy S20 + and Galaxy S20 for two weeks and managed to find all the minor flaws of the devices. One of these was a bug with the front camera software. It is also interesting that it does not depend on the shooting conditions and is quite common. In the material, we propose to consider examples of pictures.

Samsung Galaxy S20, S20 +, and S20 Ultra have camera software issues. Should a smartphone for 70-100 thousand rubles have such problems?

The essence of the bug is that the camera can sometimes blur part of the image, and in some cases even the entire frame. Colleagues conducted many tests and concluded that quality degradation does not depend on shooting conditions and is quite common. The presence of a bug turns a photo in quality comparable to a cheap Chinese device for 5 thousand rubles.

The journalists even decided to check the camera glass for cleanliness several times, but they did not see any problems in this matter. The main mistake is somewhere in the programming issue.

Sometimes the selfies are good, and sometimes they are a blurry mess.

It may seem to many that the reason for this is too bright lighting behind a person, however, even with a dark background, problems are observed:

Problems with software at the start of sales are a standard story for many companies. It is difficult to bring the operating system to a perfect state before a product release, because this is not your usual application that you can cover with tests and not bother too much. An operating system is a large product that can fail even when covered in tests. Especially when it comes to the quality of photos.

Camera testing, in my opinion, is one of the most difficult processes, but, of course, on the other hand, it is surprising that the number of bad shots is very large and it was impossible not to notice this problem during the testing phase. I do not exclude that the reason for this is the change in the source code of the camera software after the basic tests. Perhaps the company found some kind of bug, fixing which, there were problems with the quality of the images.

But we buy a smartphone for 100 thousand and do not want to have such problems

It's true. Many of you probably think that way. And we agree with you to some extent. But it is worthwhile to understand that everyone and even Apple have bugs, whose products are even more expensive and whose software is considered to be of the highest quality, so here, rather, you need to understand that it is difficult to do without bugs at the start of sales.

The company used sophisticated technologies

A cheap smartphone with conventional cameras is one thing, but Samsung introduced the Ultra version this year with a periscope module and 100x zoom. Now imagine that they need to adapt software for 3 different devices with different camera modules, with one of which they have never worked before – not an easy task.

Will Samsung smartphones rise in price due to coronavirus and ruble exchange rate?

The ruble won back a little yesterday and became a little stronger, but still 81 rubles per dollar is too high a figure for Koreans not to think about increasing the cost of their products. Most likely, in the near future, S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra will rise in price by 15-20%.

It is also interesting that device sales in January-February 2019 in Russia increased by 20%. A Beeline spokesman reported a 45% increase in sales of Samsung smartphones on March 9. This is probably how consumers are investing in the purchase of smartphones amid the abnormal weakening of the ruble. Earlier, we already advised not to hesitate with the purchase of a new smartphone, and now we want to repeat – do not hesitate. Despite all the problems with the software, the S20 now seems like a good investment – it will be more expensive in the future.
