For several weeks now, I have been using my laptop Huawei as my main working tool. All this time I had somewhat mixed feelings and I did not know what to tell about him. Now I have gathered my thoughts and am ready to share my opinion on whether to buy it. I want to say right away that, unlike all other devices that fell victims of sanctions, everything is in order with laptops. Moreover, I even get the feeling that the company is trying to make them the main source of income in the field of consumer electronics. At least until everything settles down. However, let's talk about everything in order.
Overall, the laptop looks standard, but stylish.
First impression of the Huawei MateBook X Pro
At the moment on the website Huawei you can buy only one complete set of this laptop. But she is very good and rich. You could even say bold.
As a result, we have a Huawei MateBook X Pro with a Intel 10th Gen Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, an NVIDIA GeForce MX 250 graphics card and a touchscreen with a resolution 3000 by 2000 points. There are other features, like charging with a 65W adapter, but we'll talk about that below.
The laptop is made in the traditional format of what is called an ultrabook, although I do not really agree with that name. In everyday life, I use the MacBook Pro 13. I like it for its combination of size, performance and even screen. I have used a lot of different laptops, including the MacBook Pro 16 and Asus N750 18.3 ''. All these are large devices that are needed in order to stand on the desktop and once every couple of weeks get out somewhere with their owner. For other tasks, the ideal option is exactly 13 inches or a maximum of 14 inches, as in Huawei MateBook X Pro (13.9 to be exact). Its screen is a couple of millimeters wider than mine and about one and a half centimeters taller. In general, the difference is not so big as to negatively affect the wearing comfort.
Despite USB Type-C, there is also a classic on the case – regular USB. Thanks for that!
The real problem now is the laptop lid. When I take many devices that we have in the editorial office, from friends or just in the store, it is a big problem for me to open them. I am sure that the laptop should be opened with one hand, period. The MateBook X Pro does just that. I did not notice any problems with the hinge for a month of active use.
Otherwise, the first impression of this laptop was positive. Here are some extra stickers to remove from the case. I understand that these are obligations to other brands, but without them it is much more pleasant.
No stickers are better. Of course, they can be torn off, but when they are not at all somehow more pleasant.
Laptop keyboard Huawei
I didn't like the keyboard Huawei of the MateBook X Pro. The subjectivity of perception in this matter always comes first. For example, I really like the butterfly keyboard, which many in the MacBook did not call with any words. I think this is the reason why I had to get used to the laptop keyboard Huawei a little.
As for me, it is very soft and slightly indistinct. There is no feeling that you just pressed the button. Some deeper “failure” at the end of the turn is needed. I also didn't like that the keys were too flat. Because of this, the border between them is very weak. Finally, I'll add a small Enter key. I got used to it for about a week and a half.
You have to get used to this Enter key. Especially after the MacBook.
But those who love quiet keyboards will absolutely love it. You can even type quickly on the Huawei MateBook X Pro in almost complete silence. This is a plus, but if you type a lot, then you want to be able to do it with greater comfort.
Laptop touchscreen Huawei
At the very beginning, I only talked about the screen resolution, but did not say that it covers 100% sRGB. Indeed, there are no complaints about the paints. The picture is very clear and detailed at any brightness level.
It can also be noted that the screen covers 91 percent of the lid area. With this indicator, you can really say that it is frameless. The aspect ratio of 3: 2 looks a little strange, but, on the other hand, it is easier to work with documents and study Internet pages this way.
When I started using the laptop, I somehow missed that it has a touch screen. Later, at some point, it just occurred to me to try and it really turned out to be sensory. True, I do not understand in what situation it might really be necessary, but someone might like it. I only used zoom a couple of times and took a few screenshots with three fingers swipe. I find it much easier to use the hotkeys on the keyboard and trackpad.
How Huawei Share works in laptops
If, in addition to a laptop Huawei, you have a smartphone Huawei of the latest models with EMUI 10 installed, you can take advantage of a cool function that the manufacturer simply called Huawei Share, or rather its extended version – Huawei Share OneHop.
Its essence lies in the fact that you can use your smartphone on the laptop screen. To do this, you just need to give all the rights once and touch the smartphone to the laptop case. You will immediately launch a window that duplicates the smartphone interface.
This feature can be very useful.
This way you will be able to perform all functions and even communication in messengers. Actually, that's how I used it, connecting to the Huawei P40 Pro, which I went with at the time.
In addition to simple communication in instant messengers, Huawei Share allows you to exchange files and photos. All this is done even without access to the Web. After all, it is much more convenient to download movies, music and just files to a smartphone – like on a USB flash drive. Especially if your storage is 256 GB or more.
In general, working with two devices on one screen is the main task of this function. In the official materials Huawei she even said that according to studies, a person, on average, checks a smartphone about 150 times a day. During work, this makes you distracted, and in order to focus back on the tasks being performed, you need to spend at least 20-25 minutes. This is what inspired the company to create a tool that allows you not to be distracted from your computer.
And such a bundle also works well when you need a mobile access point or video communication, but do not want to hold a smartphone in your hand. In this case, the laptop camera will take over the picture. Probably, one of the main advantages of the touch screen will appear here – smartphone control will be very familiar.
The most secure laptop
There are computers that have a cool encryption system, but they are very expensive, look like a cinder block and are used by special services. For the average consumer laptop, the fingerprint scanner is already becoming something very cool.
The fingerprint scanner is fast. Although about every 25 times you have to scan your finger again.
With such little security and privacy measures, the Huawei MateBook X Pro stands a step above the rest.
Many are afraid that they will be watched, and they glue the camera of a laptop and even a smartphone. Some manufacturers at one time offered a special shutter that slid back and covered the camera. Now a lot has changed, laptops have become thin and there is simply nowhere to place such an element.
Instead of trying to finalize what we have, Huawei moved the camera down and placed it in the top row button. This is a little unusual, but it allowed us to keep the top bezel of the screen minimal and the camera closed so that no one could surreptitiously watch you.
The camera is hidden and that's good. The picture will not be much worse from the fact that the camera is below. Although, there are slight distortions.
What is good about Huawei MateBook X Pro
In addition to the features listed above, there is much more. Even Huawei Share is not limited to just displaying the smartphone screen on a laptop. With this function, you can also transfer photos and screenshots with one touch, both there and back. Simply touch the phone to the laptop case under the arrow keys.
Charges Huawei MateBook X Pro via USB Type-C port. The charger can be plugged into either of the two ports. Other smartphones and tablets with this connector can be charged from the same device. The adapter is powerful enough to provide six hours of use with just 30 minutes of charging. A full battery was enough for me for a day of work and there was still a little left. That is, the declared autonomy generally corresponds to the real numbers.
The design has as many as 4 speakers and a very solid microphone. It allows you to communicate normally and give voice commands from a distance of up to 4 meters. I did not specifically test the microphone for compliance with this indicator, but communicated via video communication and no one complained that I was hard to hear, even when I turned away or moved a couple of meters away from the laptop.
The MateBook X Pro is only available in two colors. I prefer the dark gray, which is simply called “Space Gray” (does it look like anything?), But there is also emerald green. I haven't seen it live, but it looks beautiful in the picture, although I would still choose gray, as I did this time.

How much does Huawei MateBook X Pro cost
All the advantages of a laptop, including high performance, which is enough for most tasks and even for games, are very pronounced. All this is good, but the price does not give me rest. This laptop costs 130,000 rubles, which is a bit expensive.
Now on the website of the company store Huawei you can use a coupon for a discount of 20,000 rubles. This has always raised questions for me, but, probably, this is the Chinese distribution model and you can often come across it on Chinese sites. It seems to me that it would be more correct to cross out the price of 130,000 rubles and write 110,000 rubles. So many more buyers would be interested in this computer. Although, even 110,000 rubles is still expensive for a computer that most users need.
As a conclusion, I can say that I am satisfied with this laptop. I had to get used to the keyboard a little and find use cases to reveal all its functions. I was pleased with it and can recommend it for purchase, unless, of course, you are afraid of the price and you are ready to spend 129,990 rubles on a laptop. The main thing is not to worry that something is wrong with him. Windows 10 works on it like all other popular applications. The sanctions did not affect the company's laptops.
