The company Xiaomi has unveiled the new flagship Mi 10 in China. The company planned to present the global version of the phone at the MWC event in Barcelona, however, due to the latest news related to the cancellation of the exhibition, Xiaomi decided to present the global version a little later at a separate presentation. The phone turned out to be technically quite good and is comparable to the Galaxy S20, but many will not be pleased with the cost of the new item. If earlier the flagship line Xiaomi was considered the best in terms of price, today this statement can be put up for discussion, because Mi 10 was estimated much more expensive than last year's solution. However, everything in order.
Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro presented
Last year Xiaomi introduced the Mi 9. It was priced at $ 445 for a version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The version with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of ROM was priced at $ 490, while the version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage was offered to consumers for $ 595.
The phone at the time of its release, like the Mi 10 today, offered flagship hardware and was comparable to the S10 at the time.
Together with the Mi 10, the company also introduced the Mi 10 Pro. Why are newcomers good? They offer a Snapdragon 865 processor, a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a 90 Hz refresh rate and FHD + resolution, as well as HDR10 + support, a 108-megapixel camera (complemented by a 13-megapixel wide screen, 2 -MP macro module and 2MP depth module), fast charging, support 5G.
Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro received 8/12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and built-in UFS 3.0 memory. The Mi 10 Pro differs from the Mi 10 in the presence of an additional 20MP wide-angle camera, as well as 12MP and 8MP telephoto modules. In the DxO test, the device received 124 points and took the first place. And this is quite logical, given that the Galaxy S20 is not yet in the review directory.
Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro support Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, dual 5G, NFC. The devices are capable of recording video in 4K and 8K, there is optical and electronic stabilization. The back cover of the phones is made of glass, there are stereo speakers, a Type-C port.
Mi 10 is equipped with a 4780 mAh battery with 30 W fast charging and 30 W wireless charging. Reverse charging of 10 watts is also supported. The Mi 10 Pro has a 4500 mAh battery with 50 watt fast charging, 30 watt wireless charging and 10 watt reversible charging. The S20 Ultra, for example, has 45 watt fast charging.
Xiaomi Mi 10 has an interesting design
Technically, everything is quite standard, and you should not expect something different in 2020. Another issue is the price. Mi 10 for the version with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory is priced at 573 dollars, which is 128 dollars more than the Mi 9 in the minimum modification. The version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of ROM costs 616 dollars, for 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of ROM you will have to pay 673 dollars.
Want the very best? Mi 10 Pro with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory is priced at 716 dollars, the version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of ROM costs 787 dollars, but for the version with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal memory you will have to pay almost 900 dollars (859, to be more precise).
The phones can already be pre-ordered in China, and the Mi 10 will go on sale on February 14, while the Mi 10 Pro will only be available on February 18.
Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro too expensive
It seems obvious to me that the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro have become too expensive. The OnePlus 7T is priced at $ 535, the OnePlus 8 will retail for roughly $ 600. Thus, if the difference between the flagships Xiaomi and OnePlus was significant before, in 2020 they will cost about the same. Moreover, in the maximum modification with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal memory, the phone is priced at $ 900. For almost the same amount, you can get the Galaxy S20 in a minimal modification with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. I don't know about you, but I would probably choose Samsung, simply because the Koreans offer better software, including improved photo processing software.
