Huawei Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro will work on different OS versions

The company Huawei always has two smartphones that the whole world is waiting for, even if people are not going to buy them. These are top-end devices that are interesting to everyone, even from the point of view of technology development. Naturally, I'm talking about smartphones “P” series and “Mate” series. We already saw the first one at the beginning of the year and got to know him very well, and the second will appear in a few weeks, but we are already waiting for one controversial point in it, which has not yet been properly explained by logic. If you believe the information that has appeared recently, then different smartphones of the same series will work under different operating systems. What is going on?

Maybe he will be like that, but you shouldn't count on it too much.

Operating System Huawei Mate 40

We've already talked about when the new Huawei Mate 40 will arrive, which will be interesting in terms of technology and how the company is fighting pressure from the US government. We already know that, most likely, this will be the last smartphone based on the company's own chipset, which will be called Kirin 1000 or Kirin 1200. In addition, we continue to receive information about what else will be new and interesting in this smartphone.

Usually, all smartphones of the same series Huawei use the same operating system, but it seems that this time things will be slightly different. According to popular leak source Evan Blass, Huawei Mate 40 Pro will ship with EMUI 11 on top of Android 11. However, the more affordable Huawei Mate 40 will get EMUI 10.x on top Android 10.

In the near future, at the developer conference Huawei Developer Conference (HDC) 2020, the company will present its new system EMUI 11. This system will be based on the OS Android 11 open source from Google. Let me remind you that at HDC 2019 the company Huawei presented its first AOSP-based system. This is how we got EMUI 10, built on Android 10, which was installed on all smartphones of the Huawei Mate 30 series.

Now you can draw any concepts of a new smartphone, but you have to wait for its official release.

New smartphone Huawei

Series code name Huawei Mate 40 – “Noah”. This will be the first time that one series Huawei will ship with different EMUI versions. Currently, there is no explanation for this behavior of the company, but I would like to believe that if this state of affairs will take place, then only at the start of sales.

I would like that over time all smartphones will be able to update to the current software version, that is, to EMUI 11, built on Android 11. This is advisable even from the point of view of security, updates of which smartphones will receive in future.

Will Huawei Mate 40 Lite come out

In addition to two models, the new series may include one more model – Huawei Mate 40 Lite. If what was said above about the operating system version is true, then the “light” version will probably also receive last year's operating system. We'll have to wait for HDC 2020 to get more information. This event will run from 10 September 2020 to 12 September 2020. Due to the fact that the coronavirus is not yet thinking of retreating, and in such conditions it would be a bad idea to gather a full hall of people, the event will be held online.

This is more like the truth.

Specifications Huawei Mate 40

Recent leaks and rumors indicate that the Huawei Mate 40 series will have a display with a 90Hz refresh rate. This option seems more likely due to the fact that the company places great emphasis on the autonomy of its devices and may abandon the gluttonous display with a frequency of 120 Hz.

The 5nm processor for the new smartphone will appear before mid-September and will be the last serial Kirin chip, on which all the company's flagships of previous years worked.

According to @MobileWaferDarren, a lot of chips will be needed before the end of the year Huawei. The company will need mobile chips of 5, 7, 16 and 28 nm. You will also need Bluetooth – a TWS headset chip developed by HiSilicon. The company can still order such chips from TSMC, which it actively uses. Soon she will lose this opportunity.

Based on previous reports, in addition to the Huawei Mate 40 getting a 5nm processor, it is known to combine a Cortex A77 or A78 architecture with a Mali G77 / G78 GPU architecture. This combination guarantees the best performance for a high refresh rate display, up to 120Hz if Huawei chooses it anyway.

Wow! Cool! Imagine such a smartphone without a front camera. I would not mind that.

The name of the new chipset still raises some questions, since it is not completely clear where the company will stop. They say that it will be called Kirin 1000 or Kirin 1200. It is clear that it is codenamed 'Baltimore'.

Let me remind you that the company's previous processor was called the Kirin 990 and used the Cortex A76 architecture. Based on this, we can assume that the novelty should be “updated” in this regard. With this combination, the performance of the CPU and GPU will dramatically increase.

To get more accurate information, you need to be patient and wait for the official announcement. However, high performance is exactly what the company needs now against the background of the impressive characteristics of another top processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus and solutions from Apple.
