Despite the fact that Google is often criticized for the imperfections of Google Play, I personally am impressed by the company's approach to the development of its app store. Unlike Apple, which updates the App Store at most once a year as part of major updates, the search giant keeps Google Play independent of the main operating system, so that both new smartphones and for outdated devices, whose support has long ceased.
Google may update Google Play regardless of Android
Google introduced an update to Google Play, in which it added a number of useful sections and mechanisms to make the interaction with the directory more comfortable. According to the established tradition, the update is distributed gradually, and therefore do not be surprised if you have not received any of the innovations described below. After all, the process of deploying updates for Google can take a week, a month, or even six months.
Assessing apps within the apps themselves
Google Play lets you rate apps without leaving the apps themselves
In iOS this feature has been around for several years, and Google has just decided to implement it. Better late than never, though. Developers will now be able to embed a grading box directly into apps, and users will be able to rate without going to Google Play. This is very convenient, considering that thanks to the new mechanism, the need to leave the application limits is lost, which often leads to lost progress.
How to find your reviews on Google Play
Your app reviews on Google Play are now in a separate section
Surprisingly, this was not even available on Google Play before, but now users Android have the opportunity to view all their reviews that they have ever left in a special section of the catalog. You can get there from the Google Play context menu. There you can also rate all applications that you did not have time to, but really want to rate, and if you wish, you can also change their rating, for example, in a situation if after the update the program began to work very badly.
Google Play design update
Left – how it was, right – how it became
Perhaps this is the smallest innovation that, in principle, could appear on Google Play. After the update is released, the background image of the profile in the catalog will change for all users, which can be accessed from the context menu. If earlier it was cut-off of colored geometric shapes, now it is a stylized Google Play logo. Not that anyone paid attention to it at all, but it didn't get any worse – and thanks for that. At the end of the day, if Google doesn't screw up something when updating, that's not a bad thing.
All changes are applied on Google servers, and therefore it is unlikely that you will be able to access the update yourself. Although, of course, it should not be ruled out that independent developers will be able to isolate the APK update file from the operating system and make it publicly available. Another thing is that it can be unsafe. Therefore, the only thing you should count on is that the update does not contain any bugs, and the search giant, realizing this, will roll it out to all users without exception.
