All this leads to an increase in the frequency and this year it exceeded 3 GHz for the first time in the history of mobile processors. Literally 3-4 years ago, no one even thought about it, but now everything has turned out that way. The first processor to overcome the coveted milestone was the announced Snapdragon 865 Plus. The most interesting thing is not even this, but which smartphones will be the first to receive this chipset and show it in all its glory. In addition to improving CPU performance, the Snapdragon 865 Plus also offers increased GPU performance. Both of them will be 10 percent more productive than their predecessor – Snapdragon 865. This makes the process more suitable for games, so the appearance of a gaming smartphone (and more than one) based on it is very logical.

ASUS ROG Phone 3 is the ultimate gaming smartphone

The first smartphone equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus will be the most anticipated gaming phone of the year – Asus ROG Phone 3. It will be officially unveiled on July 22nd and will combine a powerful chipset with 16 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB UFS 3.0 internal storage.

There were many leaks and they allowed us to get the most complete picture of this smartphone and its characteristics. According to TENAA, the Asus ROG Phone 3 will measure 171 x 78 x 9.85mm and weigh 240 grams. It will have virtual triggers and an RGB backlit logo.

The display will be a panel AMOLED with a diagonal of 6.59 inches, an aspect ratio of 19.5: 9, a resolution of Full HD + 1080 x 2340 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. It will be protected by Gorilla Glass 6 and will receive HDR10 certification.

This smartphone simply cannot be boring.

The main camera will have a resolution of 64 megapixels, while the front camera will have 13 megapixels. The battery will receive a fast 30-watt charge and a capacity of 6,000 mAh. In addition, the case will have two USB Type-C connectors – one for charging, and the other for accessories.

Lenovo Legion is another gaming smartphone

Alongside the Asus ROG Phone 3, another gaming phone will be unveiled on July 22nd that will also be powered by the Snapdragon 865 Plus. This will be the Legion Phone, which is the first gaming phone Lenovo. It belongs to the company's gaming lineup, just like its gaming PCs. In many ways, therefore, the novelty should become an excellent competitor to the ASUS ROG Phone 3.

This phone will be so focused on the gaming component that it will receive a camera that will slide out of the side panel. That is, there is a clear bias towards using in a horizontal orientation. This will be very useful during game streams.

The cameras on the back will be located in the center of the phone and there will be an additional USB-C port that can be used in landscape orientation to charge the phone while gaming. Besides the Snapdragon 865 Plus, the smartphone will support up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The battery will have a 5,000mAh battery capacity and support for 90W fast charging. As a result, it will take approximately 30 minutes to fully charge the smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 – the long-awaited Samsung

A little later, at an online event called Galaxy Unpacked, Samsung will present a new line of smartphones Galaxy Note, which will consist of two models – a regular one and with an “Ultra” prefix.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G – clamshell reissue

The updated (but not completely new) Galaxy Z Flip will also be officially announced on August 5th. Initially, it was assumed that the smartphone will only receive last year's Snapdragon 855 Plus, but according to the latest information, it will still be equipped with Snapdragon 865 Plus. Although, it is possible that everything will be limited to the usual, and not the plus version of the processor.

Otherwise, the characteristics of the “new items” should not differ from what was presented this spring, except that it will receive a new bronze color. This color will become a symbol of everything that will be presented on August 5. It's not for nothing that it even appears on all the teaser videos of the Korean company.

Samsung is rumored to be unveiling another foldable phone during the Galaxy Unpacked event on August 5. I'm talking about the Galaxy Z Fold 2 – the successor to the Galaxy Fold. It is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 865 Plus mobile platform. Unlike the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, it won't be a classic clamshell smartphone. It will be a device that converts into a tablet, making it compact and versatile. In short, this is a continuation of last year's Fold and that's it.

Nubia Red Magic 5S – red magic

If you thought that Asus ROG Phone 3 and Lenovo Legion Phone would be the only new game phones, you are wrong. After Red Magic 3, Nubia plans to release another gaming phone this year – Red Magic 5S. Another smartphone rumored to ship with Snapdragon 865 Plus will be the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro +. So far, these are only rumors, but in addition to the top processor, the novelty should receive a display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a camera sensor up to 100 megapixels and 12x zoom, as well as fast 65-watt charging.

The only question is how much it will cost. Especially when it officially gets to the international market. Against the background of what happened with Xiaomi Mi 10, nothing will surprise us. Although, who knows?

IQOO and Realme – “two brothers acrobat”

Last but not least, smartphones that can be said to receive the Snapdragon 865 Plus are iQOO and Realme. They are expected to release their first phones with this chipset in the coming months. There is no official confirmation yet, but they are unlikely to refuse to do so.
