Xioami today unveiled Redmi Note 9 Pro and Pro Max. Each such event is a serious reason to think about updating the device. The Redmi Note line has long become a kind of folk, and no one even doubts that Xiaomi can show something that may not correspond to its value. So where is the truth? Should you buy the Note 9 Pro and Pro Max? Let's figure it out.
Xiaomi introduced another phone. This is another device that doesn't appeal to anything. Oh, thanks!
Specifications Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max
Redmi Note 9 Pro is equipped with a Snapdragon 720G processor, 4 gigabytes of RAM and 64 or 128 gigabytes of internal memory UFS 2.1, a 5020 mAh battery with 18W fast charging.
The screen here is 6.67-inch with FHD + resolution and is made using IPS technology. The front camera in the device is 18 megapixels. Both Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max use 4 main camera modules, but in the case of Note 9 Pro we are talking about 48-megapixel main camera (GM2), while Note 9 Pro Max uses a 64-megapixel module . And this is the only difference in cameras – all other modules are identical (8 megapixel width, 5 megapixel macro module and 2 megapixel depth module). Another nice bonus for owners of Redmi Note 9 Pro Max can be a 32MP front camera. Most likely, this is the same module that is used in the Mi 9 Lite.
The Pro version differs from the usual 6 or 8 gigabytes of RAM, 33 W fast charging. The phone charges up to 50% in just 30 minutes.
The fingerprint scanner in both phones is located at the end, there is an infrared port, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, USB-C, NavIC (this is a satellite navigation system in India). The back and front uses 5th generation Gorilla Glass.
Major innovation Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max
And, in my opinion, the most important thing is the new vibration motor 'z-axis motor'. The company says it supports 150 different actions in MIUI, including scrolling, SMS, printing, and so on. This is probably some kind of analogue of Haptic Feedback from Apple, which first appeared in iPhone 7.
Almost everyone who uses devices Xiaomi complains about poor vibration feedback. Buying a phone for a lot of money, you will still get a vibration motor, which will be noticeably inferior in quality to solutions of competitors, probably this time they decided to improve. Earlier I wrote about the shortcomings of Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite, and this point was also indicated there.
Now for the prices. You probably already know that Redmi Note 9 Pro Max will sell for $ 202 for the version with 6 GB of RAM and 64 gigabytes of internal memory, the version with 128 GB of ROM will cost $ 256, for the version with 8 gigabytes of operational and 128 gigabytes of built-in will have to 'pay off' $ 256.
Redmi The Note 9 Pro is priced at $ 175 for 4/64, while the 6/128 version is priced at $ 215.
Which Redmi Note 9 Pro or Pro Max should you choose?
On the one hand, the phone is not bad, but you will not leave the feeling that you have already used it once.
Obviously, with virtually identical specs to the Pro and Pro Max and the same screen, consumers will be looking at the Note 9 Pro. Well, what is there in Max that would attract him? Camera? I would not say. Okay, we picked the Note 9 Pro for $ 175.
Why I Choose Note 9 Pro
Redmi Note 9 Pro will sell better than its Max version, but whether they will buy them at all is an interesting question
Let's now take a closer look at it. First, the design is not much different from the company's previous phones. It seems that they just took the case Redmi K30, changed the location of the cameras and decided to give it to us as a new model, but in fact it is still the same Redmi K30. Here is the same body, the same dimensions and the same screen – it's not clear.
- Dimensions Redmi K30 165.3 x 76.6 x 8.8 mm
- Dimensions Redmi Note 9 165.8 x 76.7 x 8.8 mm
Redmi The Note 9 Pro is even slightly taller due to the larger bezel at the bottom, and it's even slightly wider. The thickness of the phones is the same, and this despite the fact that the battery in the Note 9 is 5020 mAh – they are great in this matter. But! A large battery is always a significant weight of a phone. Let's take a look at this parameter. Redmi The K30 weighs 208 grams – and that's a lot. Redmi Note 9 Pro – 209 grams, that's a lot too. It is unclear how, with the same weight, they managed to get more battery capacity. Perhaps they saved even more on materials by completely abandoning metal.
But 209 grams is still an extremely large number, and the phone is large in itself, so it will not feel very good in the hands. In addition, by design, I repeat, it does not attract anything – this is a typical case that Xiaomi is used everywhere. They probably have certain blanks in the factories and they just stamp them according to standard drawings, slightly changing small details so that people think that this is some kind of new phone, but, in fact, all this is nonsense, they just slip an old device to us in a new wrapper.
I have such feelings with any phones Xiaomi. Not too long ago I used Redmi 8 and then Mi 9 Lite, and I did not notice any difference in the feel of use between them.
Why Apple is better Xiaomi
And if you think that I am really trying to convince you, this is an erroneous assumption. Buy smartphones Xiaomi! But … then don't complain.
And this goes for any Chinese manufacturer, be it Realme, Oppo or Xiaomi. I would not be surprised if they produce their devices in the same factories, because they are all similar to the point of impossibility.
And when we discuss how beautiful Xiaomi is, understand, miracles do not happen, and changing your Redmi Note 7 to Redmi Note 9 Pro, you will not feel special the difference, because it is not profitable for the company to radically change the production process – it will be too expensive for them, so they change the phones so that the cost of it still seems competitive. And yes, you will be offered a good processor, but if the processor is more important to you, and not the sensation of use, then this, of course, is a way out of the situation, but I am simply sick of these Chinese phones of the same type – we are 'forced' the same thing every year.
Now in front of me are two devices: iPhone 6 and Mi 9 Lite, which I recently abandoned. And now using the old one iPhone, it gives me more emotions, I get aesthetic pleasure from its unique design, nice materials and interface, meanwhile, the Mi 9 Lite has a plastic case, which is supposedly made for glass and metal, here terrible shell, the phone is unpleasantly in the hand because of the sharp edges, there are a lot of advertisements, terrible interface design – no, no, thanks.
I don't know why people like Chinese phones so much. What's good about them? Uniformity, gradients on the case, which make the phone even cheaper in appearance, poor quality of materials? Explain to me? Why should I buy the Note 9 Pro for $ 200? What is special about it compared to the rest of the Chinese? The Note 9 Pro is just a bazaar-bought slipper, it’s ordinary and you wear it, but it doesn’t bring you any pleasure. And it is a pity that many do not understand this.
It's time to move to our chat and continue the discussion there. Waiting for you!
