Reading on a smartphone is rewarding, and that's what we do every day. If earlier IPS-displays enjoyed the greatest popularity, today AMOLED – screens are becoming more and more attractive. Their disadvantage is pulse width modulation (PWM). Manufacturers solve this problem by using the DC-Dimming function, but even with the enabled function, the ripple on AMOLED – screens is stronger than on IPS.
Phones with E-Ink screens
In addition, the very technology of such screens makes their use less comfortable for the eyes and requires a higher screen resolution. In simple words, with a AMOLED – screen, vision may deteriorate over time if you spend more than 5 hours a day at your phone and read various materials most of the time. Devices with built-in E-Ink display can be a good alternative. Ideal combination: main AMOLED – screen and additional E-Ink. However, some even decide to make the E-Ink display the main one. This article presents smartphones with E-Ink display.

The smartphone is capable of displaying 4096 colors and will have very good battery life (presumably about a week of use from one battery charge). There is no data yet on the cost and start of smartphone sales.
This is definitely an interesting phone and is ideal for those who often read various articles or books on their smartphone. You can even chat with friends.

YoutaPhone 3 – AMOLED and E-Ink for the perfect match

kingrow k1 – how to raise 5 million on a legacy device
This project is quite remarkable and we could not pass it by. On the Indiegogo fundraising platform in mid-2019, a smartphone project with an E-Ink display Kingrow K1 was launched. The device is priced at $ 299 and offers absolutely no hardware: MediaTek MT6763, Android 8.1, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, 5.17-inch HD display.
Obviously he's not worth the money. Even the devices above are much more attractive despite the fact that previously we scolded them for their high cost. But not only this is interesting. The project managed to collect 5 million 300 thousand rubles. A total of 299 people participated in the gathering. Of course, 300 people is not a very large number, and this is probably why the production of the gadget was more expensive, but the smartphone itself does not cling even outwardly. The developers did not come up with a unique design like the Mudita Pure or Light Phone 2.
Mudita Pure – a 'futa phone' with a cool design
This is a cool push-button telephone with an E-Ink display. The company claims that the device has an advanced antenna, due to which the radiation of radio waves is minimal (SAR). There is no Internet (you can use the device as a modem by connecting to a laptop), there are high-quality speakers from Harman, Bluetooth 4.2, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, 2 nano-sim slots and a timer for meditation.
The device can be pre-ordered on Kickstarter.
Light Phone 2 – Credit Card Size
For those who need internet access, there is the stunning Light Phone 2 with 4G support. A device the size of a credit card will make you love yourself. The project has already raised 215 million rubles on Indiegogo, but we could not ignore it.
