Everyone immediately remembered both about him and about the Google Pixel 5. But nothing is known anyway, and both smartphones, including their offshoots, are too hypothetical to talk about them seriously. Anyway, the company this year has already given many reasons to doubt that it knows what it is doing. Is everything so bad with her? Or is she just confused? Or maybe, in general, everything is fine and we just do not see a brilliant plan?
Is Google doing it right? There are doubts.
What new Google Pixel will be this year
In terms of the models we are waiting for, while rumors only mention the Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5. Note that there is nothing about the Pixel 4a XL and Pixel 5 XL in this scheme. This is a little surprising and even upsetting, because because of this, the size of the main lineup may increase, and this would not be desirable at all. iPhone SE or Google Pixel 4a
Even on rumors about its appearance iPhone, the second generation SE has already begun to form a niche of devices, which the Google Pixel 4a should get into. It is on this that Google can build its advertising company by releasing an affordable novelty. You just need to make it cheaper and show by all means that “it's like iPhone SE 2, but cheaper”.
Perhaps that is why the company abandoned the “XL” model, relying on a more compact and at the same time more affordable option.
iPhone SE has a great camera and it has been proven in the camera comparisons I have done since its release. It was almost as good as the camera iPhone 11 Pro, with the exception of fewer modules.
Google may well bet on the camera. They say they are not worse, but cheaper. This is how the Google Pixel 3a was promoted last year. His camera was really very good.
There is no doubt that iPhone SE will be more productive and will have longer support, but Google will offer a camera at the Cupertino level and a much smarter assistant than Siri. Due to this, you can well promote your smartphone.
Google Pixel, on the one hand, sets an example of what a Android smartphone should be, and on the other, something is wrong with it.
Google has long made no secret that the main competitors of the Pixel are not inexpensive Android smartphones, namely iPhone. It is his users, who wanted something new, that the company is trying to lure. But this very year Apple has an answer. It may have a slightly outdated design, but it has great support, cool infrastructure and is inexpensive. Unlike last year, when Google Pixel 3a competed with iPhone Xs for about $ 1000.
Will Google Pixel come out with 5G
The same picture that was with 4G, when the name or description of the smartphone indicated whether there is support for it, we are now seeing with 5G. This means that literally in a couple of years, all smartphones will support it by default. But so far there is no such thing and separate versions with conditional division continue to be released.
Not many people will be willing to overpay for support this year 5G. Especially, but against the background of growing unemployment in the world and the coronavirus pandemic, which are closely related. Therefore, in 2020, releasing such a phone is no longer a very good idea.
Perhaps, on rumors that from this year all current models iPhone, which will be released in the fall, will have 5G, Google made an important decision. The decision to release a mid-range smartphone with 5G, in order to later mention that such a feature should not be a feature of exceptionally expensive phones.
This approach seems sound, but against the backdrop of the same crisis, this particular version may not be in demand. For the sake of 5G, many will not want to overpay, and those who are ready to buy an expensive smartphone will pay attention to something more productive with 5G.

When Google Pixel 5 comes out
All we know about the Pixel 5 at the moment is that it will have a Snapdragon 76 5G chipset. Everything else that I have seen to date was either rumors that are difficult to believe, or completely outright fantasies. But if we continue to argue that Google's main goal is Apple, then the fall launch of this phone seems very interesting. Moreover, it will also be cheaper iPhone.
However, the price difference won't be as big as with the Pixel 4a. And considering that iPhone 12 will definitely be much more productive than the Google Pixel 4a and will continue to have all its advantages in the form of cool infrastructure and long updates (more than three years that Google has been offering), the battle may be lost before it even begins . Of course, I'm talking about those people for whom there is no clear preference between Android and iOS, and there are many of them. And the difference in price between 800 and 1000 dollars will not be so big in this case. Both devices will be expensive, and there is already a different economy at work.
It will be hard to compete with iPhone 12 pixel.
Even apart from iPhone, Google has plenty of competition this year. It will not be possible to save a lot on using a cheaper processor, and at a price of, for example, $ 700 (or maybe 800, if there is one 5G), many will still think about what to buy. The choice will be: the cheaper Galaxy S20 for $ 500-800, OnePlus 8 for $ 700, and in some countries even LG Velvet with the same price.
It turns out that Google itself does not know what it needs to release, and attempts to use the Snapdragon 765 in the design look like a desperate attempt to change something? Because of this, perhaps the phone will remain a device exclusively for fans of the brand, and sales will leave much to be desired. Last year, the company had a serious growth in sales, but against the background of competitors, it was negligible, and the company continues to hardly get into the top ten manufacturers. At the same time, it was the Google Pixel 3a that brought the lion's share of Google's success last year.
Whatever one may say, the Pixel should be available in two sizes.
Based on what we are now seeing, I can conclude that the company does not plan to continue fighting at the flagship level and the new Google Pixel 5 will not be an aspen stake for Samsung, OnePlus and even Huawei. Moreover, the company will not be able to ruin life Apple. It seems that the management has made the decision to finally focus on the policy of “make it possible” and not spend money on expensive devices. I have already told you why they sell so poorly, but it is impossible to change it or simply no one wants to.
Perhaps the company has some kind of distant vision, like cool infrastructure and even better complementary gadgets, but so far no one is interested. Smartphones are rated by what they are now. In this respect, Google's strategy doesn't make much sense outwardly.
In any case, after the Google Pixel 4 was coldly received last year, including due to its autonomy issues, this year fans of the brand will not forgive something like that.
